Hey guys im sorry if this has been asked before but i did my searching and i couldnt come up with anything. i was wondering which is better, t3/t4 or 16g. what are the advantages and disadvantages of each, and if you turboed your n/t, did u go with hahn or star and why? thanks for your help!

I went star, for the price.

I suggest the HAHN, faster spool and the potential horsepower output doent matter until youre stage III (and even then you can just get a bigger turbo and sell your old one)

the smaller the turbo the faster it spools but the less HP it can push (yes, I know T3 ball bearing turbos spool ultra fast but lets talk normal turbines ok?)

I got a bunch of levelten goodies in my tranny and the final drive gear mod to compensate for the turbo lag so it all works out.

G'luck with it

Ya im saving up now and i believe im going to get the Hahn stage one to start out. I was thinking of going with star but i found the hahn one on howell for $2,195. Overboostes star is $1,999 so i think ill just save for the $200 more. Is the difference that big between the max Hp of the 16g compared to the T3/T4? is the spool up time that big of a difference either? (oh yeah im pretty sure im gonna go with hahn also because i heard it comes with a 40 pg. manuel while star only come with a 2 pg. and im going to need that to install it myself. are those manuel sizes true??) thanks for your help

give the star manual some credit, its 3 pages if you include the cover page :p

for me the spool up of the T3 is a big longer then it should be, a ball bearing one would eliminate the problem, but at the same time eliminate my wallet :p

installing the turbo is pretty straight foward though, 3 pages is certainly not enough, but I think maybe 40 pages is too much.... Ive never seen the HAHN manual. I know pictures would have helped my STAR install.

no matter which kit you get I suggest getting a missing link over STARs black box FCD, a walboro in tank pump over the HAHN inline one and an SFMU to replace either ones FPR.

Just try to keep your engine bay looking cleaner then when I first installed mine

Hey sorry for this, but ive heard of the missing link before but i dont know what those above things are, can u help me out? thanks for the help. oh yeah how would u rate the install on difficulty? was it relativly easy or a pain in the ass or what? thanks

HAHNs kit uses an in line fuel pump an intank one is better, and slightly less noisy. HAHN used a cartech FPR (fuel pressure regulator) aka the crap tech, STAR uses some other rising rate regulator, and the Vortech S-FMU (super fuel management Unit) is much better then either.

Install is just time consuming and difficulty depends on how good you are and th etools you have.

nothing is impossible =)

oh ok i know what those are. is the install that difficult, or is it just time consuming? cause if its just time consuming i can do it, but if it takes a lot of specialty tools and a lot deep engine work then i might have some trouble. thanks

only real "engine" work is the exhaust manifold and downpipe, thats the hardest part. fuel pump takes about 10 minutes, missing link takes about 2 seconds :p its more or less a buncha little things, with the right tools its not difficult, AFAIK there arent any specialty tools required.

there is TONS of help at www.2gnt.com

Well thanks for your help. ive got time, but not expert mechanical skills. im sure i could still do it tho, im not completely helpless.:thumb: thanks

Um..... You do realize that The Star Kit does come with the Vortech Unit!

Maybe i just got lucky? I dont know. Even overboost.com says that it has a 12.1 disk........... I bought mine used from someone, so either they upgraded to that(cause mine is a vortech), or they now come with them. I dont know though. All i know is mine came with one.

they have prolly updated that component then, mine came with a non adjustable 12:1 rising rate regulator, I cant adjust it all.

If I ever save up for a rebuild, I'll get an S-FMU and some beefy injectors

shouldnt it actually be in the non-turbo conversion section since were talking turbo 420a?
