Fuel Pump Reset

Is there such a thing as a fuel pump reset button?

I am really not very knowledgeable about the 420A, however it doesn't make sense to have a "reset" button on a fuel pump.

Reset would refer to an electronic/computer reset, while the fuel pump is just an electronic, mechanical pump. Everytime you turn the car off you "reset" (if you just go by the turn off/turn back on idea) the fuel pump.

If someone told you to do this/charged you to do this, I'd be very skeptical. It is possible that they reset the ECU, which resets the fuel tables, however that is also a fairly basic thing.

Hopefully someone who knows 420As a little better will chime in.

No reset.

Everytime you turn the car keys into the on position, it primes up.

Ford's have a fuel pump kill (some call it a reset switch or inertial switch) in the truck area. This is a switch that shuts down the pump when there is any type of impact from the rear. Purely a safety feature but they can be easily tripped causing a no start issue.

I suspect this is the reset switch you are speaking of?

The 2GNT has no such switch.

Terry
