Crower camshafts for 420a. Is it worth it?

Well i am going to get aem cam gears so i figure while im at it i would get cam shafts. are the crower ones worth it? how much +horse will i get?

does any one have this mod on their car? what other parts of the motor will i have to change if i install these two parts? sorry for asking so many questions but i need to know if i am wasting my time with the cam gears and shafts. will i have to change the valves and springs with this new setup?

please do not tell me to go turbo, i already know that option exsist and i would love to buy a new turbo dsm, but its not currently an option.

You can actually get them cheaper directly from crower.com i think. I would say they are worth it. I dont have them, but they should be good for around 10 hp or so. You dont have to upgrade the springs/retainers or anything, but you might as well since you will already be in there. And even if you change to the crower cams you can still add a turbo. Cams are not just an all motor upgrade. They are really good if you have a turbo too. Hope this helped

im glad one person responded. no one on the n/t forum really replies. whats a good company to get new springs and retainers if i decide to change it? should i just go with new oem mitsubishi ones?

If you get the springs and retainers, get them directly from crower.com. I believe they charge $260 for the whole set of titanium springs/retainers.

I'm assuming you are considering stage 2's. If so you won't need to upgrade springs, or atleast not for a while depending on your milage. But if you have some extra money then why not throw those in while you are at it. I suggest buying some springs from howell or directly from crower. Retainers won't make much difference but they kind of complete the package and won't break the bank. Let us know what happens.
