i got this bomz racing cold air intake from ebay and the stupid thing doesnt even fit!!! the connections are too big for the throttle body opening and the pipe isnt bent right. it needs to be more of a 90 degree angle, but its more like an acute angle. it gets right in the way of the battery . am i missing something here? also, the other longer pipe has another hook up for more vaccuum!!!! did they send me the wrong intake or did they just bend me over????

i tried and tried to make it kinda werk, but its not going to. i wrapped and boxed it up. im gonna send it bak:cry:

I got my Talon/Eclipse Intake from a trusted dealer buddy. The intake would of fit much better, but I got a nice big upgraded battery from the last owner, anyway to make it sorta work you have to have the boot on and kinda put it in on an angle and push upwards toward the firewall.. there should only be 1 vacum hose going to the valve cover. If there is more, then they forsure gave you the wrong one.

Also what size is the stock Talon Battery? Mines freakin'HUGE!

not sure on battery sizes...i was willing to go and get a smaller battery just for the CAI!!! but there is definately another hole for a vaccuum or something in the longer pipe.

unfortunately ebay isnt that accurate in what they are described to be

Sure thing Dude!!!
ya better off spending $200+ on an Intake that it's gonna be worth it like AEM, INJEN, ICE-MAN etc...

Trust me you will def. love it!
And you will feel the gains just like I did after a switched from a POS Ebay Intake to an AEM v2 C.A.I. :thumb:

I got the ebay intake, a different one than the Bomz one though. I had a little bit of a hard time installing it, mostly b/c my battery is a monster. I had to push the CAI a little to get the battery back on and its a tight fit. The one I got is the same as this guy's:

http://www.cardomain.com/member_pages/view_page.pl?page_id=357326&page=2

Look for the ebay intake with the yellow sleeves.

The funny thing is I felt the improvement, but didn't realize how much of a growl it gained by the CAI until I rolled my windows down. I was crusing with my friend side by side, and the sound took me by surprise. I had to ask him if that sound was coming from my car. Sure it's not the same as an exhaust system, but a definate improvement over stock. For me, for 30 bucks I'd take it and invest the money I saved from getting an AEM into other mods. (no offense to all you AEM and Ingen owners)

whats the name of the seller from ebay that you got yer intake from?? the seller from mine is "BestCarPart" and on the intake, the longer pipe had another vaccuum hole for another hose!! the only vaccuum we need is from the valve cover, right?? but anyways, theres 2 spots on this intake, 1 for vaccuum and i have no idea what the other is for. did yers just have 1? and should i send mine back cuz i dont think itll even fit. i had trouble with the battery as well. its got this rubber tube part that im suppose to fit in with the throttle body and the begginning of the intake and with that in there, i dont think theres anyway for it to fit at all!!!

My intake only has 1 hole. As for what you should do, if I were you I would try and send it back. As for the rubber sleeve, you should have 2 of em. 1 acts as a connector between the long and short pipes and the other should go halfway on the pipe and halfway on the throttle body. I didn't have any trouble fitting that rubber sleeve onto the throttle body, i just made sure to get all of the clamps nice and tight. the guys ebay name is racing_guys . He has pretty fast shipping.
Good Luck w/ everything

hey dood, thanx for the advice. very much appreciated. im gonna try and get ahold of racing guy and see if he can auction up another CAI. thanx again!!:thumb: :dsm:

I got my cold air intake off ebay and have no problems with it. Took a while to get it in b/c we had to cut part of the plastic "splash guard" for the filter to fit properly.... but other than that, it's great. Sounds better and feels better. about $30 for a typically $200 part. I'm happy.

well, i made my intake fit. all the clamps are good and tight. the pipe fits pretty tight against my battery., not allowing me to put the tie down back on, but i think it will be ok. i also have the problem with the splash guard. thinking about cuttin some off so i can fit the filter in better. right now, i just shoved the pipe more into the filter to give me more room. would that take away HP and incoming air????

also, how could i block water from gettin in the filter. isnt that a major concern?

I sorta have my intake resting on top of the splash guard. As far as not getting as much air, I think that the 2 intake scoops on the front (97-99 bumper) get plenty of air. I also had to remove the really long screw thingy that connectes to the battery tie down. I still have the main piece on top of the battery, just not secure on the left side. No biggie though, it aint goin nowhere. Since I have a front strut bar, I further secured the CAI by zip tying it to the strut bar. BTW, did you fill in that second hole w/ something? And did you hear/feel any difference?

As for the water, the main advantage to having 2 pipes is you can put one of those water bypass valves inbetween them. With the newer AEM intakes that are just 1 long pipe, if you wanted to put in a bypass valve you would have to cut it to get it in. For the most part, the general consensus about bypass valves is you only need 'em if you are driving in 2-3 foot puddles or if you get the cone/filter completely submerged. Normal driving in the rain wont cause hydrolock. It really depends on where you live. Out here in SoCal we don't have to worry about flooding.:D

i have a CAI on my AWD.. when it rains i put a big plastic bag over the filter with a hole cut in the top so it can only suck in air from above and keeps the water out. i try my hardest to keep that car out of the water though.

well, what i did was, and, anyone please tell me if this was stupid, i took a piece of foil and folded it several times and made it to where it was pretty thick and folded it over the hole, then i covered it all in jbweld. i was hoping that the suction wouldnt be too strong and try to suck some of that foil in. would that be possible?? hope not. but any ways, you defineatly wanna get that thing plugged the best way you can. im not really sure if i can tell very much of performance, but sound is most definite.i think i might be able to get even more airflow, once i pull more of the pipe out of the filter, instead of it being almost all the way in!!!
