96 TALON n/t VS 97 PROBE GT

I have a 96 Talon N/t and was wandering if possible to beat a stock 97 Probe GT. I Have intake, exhaust, and a chip.

I say no. The GT not only makes more hp, but it's also lighter. So unless the guy sucks at driving, I'd put my money on the probe. I've raced a friend's 4cyl. probe and barely pulled him.

I'm also curious as to what kind of "chip" you're using. Is it one of those .03cent radio shack resistors you get on ebay? If so, that shouldn't even be considered a "mod" because they're useless.

I think it would be close, I lost to my friends prbe when we were both stock. But you would stomp on the 4cyl probes

If it's an auto you might, with those mods though I would say no against a good running manual gt

I think you will get stomped on, what is it 2.5 or 2.6 L v6 torque and light, hard to beat on N/T 4 cylinder.

I don't know enough about probes to know what is in it or how much it weighs. I do know I never lost to a probe that I ran stock, but they were 4 bangers though. As for the "chip" unless he has the Howell automotive ECU then there is no "chip" for our cars, so it must be an e-bay, the venom POS or a jet "chip upgrade". I'm sorry you got suckerd on that "mod" my friend but don't believe it's doing anything for you.

Edit: Mods were intake, cat back, and UDP.

That's a lot of time to make up.

Probe Gt's are a little lighter then a 2g. And have around 160 hp i think

I raced a real nice probe GT that had a few mods. I sprayed every gear and only beat him by about a car and a half. The kid was a pretty good driver too. he claimed all he had was an intake and exhaust (i told him the same thing though , so he might have had more done to it ) My g-tech told me I ran a 15.8 @ 93mph, so IMHO i'd say the probe would take you.

THANX i went into the race with much doubt but tonight i beat him... not by much...he had me off the line but in third i pulled hard. sorry above i stated only intake exhaust and chip... i also have bosch platinum 4 plugs, rapid fire wires, aftermarket cat...not sure what it is it was put on before i bought the car however i beleive its hollowed out(was the only mod when i bought the car)...i also grinded 2nd gear, let off the clutch to fast, i believe with a better start i could of kept up off the line better
