valve cover torque specs

anyone know the torque that the valve cover bolts should be???
sorry this is posted twice, i accidently made the other title very vague, and i thought this may get some more hits

None. It's in inch-pounds. Tighten them with a nutdriver, and a lot less tightly than you'd expect. The goddamned cam covers tend to crack like they were made of porcelain.

so what you are saying is to just crank till its snug??? thats what i did, it dosent leak and it didnt crack...so i'd assume i'm ok, right...

I just got done with my rebuild and i think it was 9 foot-pounds.

about 50% of my valve cover bolts are stripped and it somewhat leaks in the front just a little. I think heli-coil is gonna be a big Biatch so what about if put some some jb weld around the bolts then screwem in let it dry for a day or 2 without driving then, tighten them down till theyre tight good or bad idea?

JB Weld is a bad idea for that. Lock-tite makes a thread repair goop that might work for that, though. And Heli-Coiling those is really pretty easy.

Factory spec for the rocker box bolts is 2-3 foot-pounds.
