Lakefield,
ok so i want to swap motors in my 96 rs i have the 420A, i want the 4g63 with the turbo , i have a place nearby where i can buy the entire car, its a 91 laser with the 6 bolt flywheel, and i know my car has obd II but i want to know how hard it would be to wire up all this stuff i can get the car for like 400-500$

you will spend 5k just to get it to run right. You need the tranny too, just buy a gsx if you want a 4g63. It all has to be custom fabricated. Our cars are not like hondas, we cant just swap, Do a seacrch this topic has been brought up many times.

i dont want the all wheel drive, its just the motor and tranny i would need pluse the oth accesories, i read an article in the new Modified mag and it talks about it in there. I may not have worte the correct engine code in first, i remember its the mitsubishi motor w/ turbo. I was goin to rebuld my 420A and i was goin to spend upwards of 2-3K$ on that project so now that i have read this article it starts a new ? for myself spend that much and stay N/a or spend about 500$ on the enitre car and swap in that motor, i figure it will be about 1-1500$ to do this all but i understand it can be done

^^^What he said. Save yourself some time, money, and aggravation. If you want a 4g63t, get a DSM that comes from the factory like that.

I'm supprised this is not locked yet, but here goes. This swap is not doable nor is it worth it. Your going to spend at least 5-7 grand and end up with a stock power level GST. If you want the 4g63 go buy one that already in a 2g body. This swap is pointless and not reasonable nobody knows anyone who has completed it successfuly. You will have to change everything from the radiator to the guages in dash and it will ALL have to be CUSTOM MADE which is why it's so expensive. What article did you see this "swap" done in? Modified mag, did they have pics of one that was complete? Either way your not a mag. with thousands to spend. Trust me man look into beefer internals and a turbo kit if you want turbo power in your car. You could just put a stage 2 kit on it and be at the same power level as a GST and just stay there, but if you want to up the boost then you will have to rebuild.

Oh and also do a search this has been discussed thousands of times.

ok first off i have experience in motor swaps like these, i swapped in a 3800 supercharged motor out of a 98 Grand Prix into my 96 lil different yes but same concept. You have to make a wiring harness that is compatible with the factory. And the mag i read used a 2gn 4g63 already in the car but opted for the "better: version which was in the older 91-mid 94 i believe models. But why do you all seem to think its imposible? yes there is a lot involved but i've got nothing but time. i blew my 420A owe money on the car still and this versus my previous plan of spending well over 2K$ on rebuilding my 420A seems to be cheaper. Not to mention its turbo. All i am asking for here people is a little help, not critizism, the tuner world is about individualism, so i am building something you all haven't seen done yet. I know about the OBDII-OBDI crap so i know whats involved there, as far as gauges go, its all in the wiring mainly, Speedo, Temp, and fuel are able to be wired up to work. And for the rest of the wiring is the computer and few minor things. I would use the computer from the old car so i can use that main harness and not change any of that. most of the work is just under the hood. But i just see this as being cheaper than rebuilding my old motor, since i will have the entire other car to work with.
