:D I just bought a 1997 Eclipse GS for $1500. Minden Silver. Has a blown motor, but hey its one hell of a parts car. Exterior and interior are in great shape.

My question is ...If you were in my situation what would you do with the second car? Would you part it out or put a new motor in it?

you know what they say, "the only thing better than one eclipse are two eclipses." At that price it would be a waste to just part it out.

my opinion....

get a new motor for the new eclipse. Put an intake on it so it sounds nice, keep that as your daily driver. Mod the hell out of your HRC turbo'ed eclipse and then youll have a daily car and a weekend car. Thats my opinion

Agree soo much with InitialDsm

2.6 or 2.4 sound like a great place to start....

When i originaly bought my car i wanted it to have no interior seating, ac engine ect ect...so i could save money not purchasing stuff im gona either rip out or upgrade....

Well found one win great shape cheap...so might as well bought it

Just if yah interested in making it a daly driver i got a rebuilt 2.0 short block with less than 2k miles on it that im swaping for a 2.4 in the works... (the head is mine though... :) ):thumb: :dsm:

Yeah my green car is pretty much modded as much as I want, already having the Howell Stroker etc etc etc, so I dont really wanna have another "project". Now I am just focusing mainly on cosmetics for it.

I installed the motor in my green car, so I know how to do it in the silver one, but I am just not sure whether its more work to put the motor in or part the car out.

I am starting to lean toward just having it as a daily driver fr about a year and then selling it.

jon, i would definately just put a new motor in it. you can get a full long block for pretty cheap... if you do the install yourself you are good to go. people are always sellin them on the other site hehe. just use it as a daily driver and/or a winter car.

I have pretty much decided to put a new motor in it. I was on the "other" site and people were saying that I should just get a junk motor and put it in. I was actually thinking about putting in a built 2.0L from VT or FTY. That way the motor will be new instead of from a junkyard. My thought is that I should be able to sell it for more money that way and feel better doing so.

Hell even after the new motor goes in I can still sell the car for more than $3,500 beans which is pretty much what I expect to spend in total after buying the motor.

Maybe I can sell it to someone that wants to go turbo. From there all they would need is the turbo kit or some squeeze cause it will already be built. If not then they would not have to ever worry about blowing the engine.
