Hey yalll i have a K&N drop in filter that fits on the stock airbox. The hose for the intake is that cheap plastic and was wandering if there is any way to attach a better pipe to the box or if you can how good would it work and would it make any difference. Im low on cash and was just looking for a project to do. If yal know any other cheap mods let me know. :dsm:

no one responded yet but i was also wandering is there any walkthroughs around for CAI for a 2g. i have seen many for the 1g but none gfor the 2g

I've seen a lot of posts at www.2gnt.com re: PVC CAI's. It's basically a 90 degree elbow at the TB, 15"-18" of straight tube to another 90 deg. elbow, then about 10"-14" of straight pipe to the driver's brake scoop. (all pipes=3" diameter). I think ABS plastic tubes would work better, as they do not absorb as much heat, but I'm not sure where to find it. It's also a little more expensive than PVC.

I made a hole at my can and attached a pipe from foil material. This pipe is very light and it is made so u can bent it .So from the CAN to my bumper's grill. And I still keep my stock intake but I have isolated the pipe very well with wrop up material and also i have isolated the radiator hoses with foil material so they dont spread heat directly on the pipe, and also I use K&N filter drop in CAN.U can find those pipes at "Home Depot".And ofcourse u ll have to do some minor mods and take ur light off to be able to do this upgrade. And also the other + here is that u can be sure u are safe when u driving at rain, cuz u ll not suck directly cold air,but the aird that pass trought the filter.I wish I could post a pic but I dont have time to go make pics and scan them and ... too much hastle.:thumb:

You could also, if you haven't already, get out the trusty Dremel and cut a bunch of opening into your airbox and then get some cheap sheet metal and make an airbox around your airbox to isolate it from the heat. The hacked stock airbox with the K&N will make a big difference in the way your exhaust sounds too. (as will any intake upgrade)

Have fun!

As stated above about the 2 90* bend couplings and the PVC or ABS pipe, this is probably an easy way to replace the stock intake pipe but leave the stock airbox. Off the top of my head I think that going from the TB using a 90* coupling then about 20 inches of straight pipe then the other 90* bend leaves you a few inches short of the stock airbox opening so some more straight pipe may be necessary as well as a straight coupling. A slight difference in power may be noticeable but I believe that where the stock airbox gets its fresh air (from the driver side wheel well) is the biggest intake restriction. The hard and smoother pipe will probably give a throatier sound though. Good Luck, pm me if you like, I'm full of ideas.
