Motor build up?s

Hey guys i am new here, i have been on the site reading a lot but just registered today. Anyways i am a proud owner of a 1996 Eclipse RS with the 420A motor, i just recently had some bottom end work done on it and i blew it up again. I have no holes or cracks in the block or oil pan we believe it to be seized up because it will not turn over anymore, reason being i was driving it and it died after a horrifyng noise from the motor before its last breath.


Any who i am looking into a FULL motor build from the bottem end up. I am looking at buying the howell automotive.com performance bottom end kit with the 10.5-1 pistons, i don't plan on running a turbo on my motor, i want to keep it n/a. I Also am looking at cams, whats good and what do i avoid? Also are the venom intake manifolds good?

I plan to use this car as a daily driver so it should be a street/strip set up.

Before dealing with Howell, you should know what you are getting yourself into. I have heard nothing but bad stories and experienced extremely poor customer service from them. You can go to a performance engine shop and they can do all the same things as Howell can do, but with a slight sense of positive customer service. I'm not saying they don't make good parts, I'm just saying you need to realize that there is a high chance something could go wrong with ordering and finding out information. I would reccommend talking to people who have dealt with them (other than me) and had positive results. Good luck.

I know howell has not been good on shippin i have read a few of the guys' posts in here about them but my car is done and stored for the rest of the year i have looked all over and maybe just not the right places yet for the complete bottom end kit and i want the pistons and rods and crank and an oil pump would be nice howell has all of that plus the bearings and lower gasket set for $1099.99 and thats all i have found for now, if anybody knows of another better choice please feel free to let me know
