can anyone help me out here? i need to get my nonturbo 92 talon into the mid 15's or lower. im pretty tight on my budget but all help is greatly apreciated. If there are bolt-ons that would do this i would rather do those then port and polish everything. Thanks
 
of course the basic bolt-ons, i dont know much about 1g's but right now my 2gnt is running 15.7's so lets see you need the following for sure


intake
exhaust
headers
cam gears
underdrive pulley
cams
short shifter wouldnt hurt
forged rods
forged pistons
ground wires with new plugs

see what that gets ya and if you dont hit your goal with that....then turbo it or p&p
 
Dont buy cam gears and underdrive pully wont hellp ya and cost way too much. Set of underdrive pulley is about 500$ and cams pair of cam greas is about 250$ so 750$ for maybe 2 HP GESS WHOOOOT,and maybe 1/10 of a second better 1/4 mile aint worthed.
Evreting else will help ya for sure.Also check how much ur car wight.
For N/A cars the most important factor for acselerating is the body wight of the car. my car weight about 2500lb:D .
 
thanks for all ur info. is there ne thing else i can get? i already hve an exhaust and intake, im thinkin bout makin my own CAI as well.

an underdrive pulley does nothing??? im gonna have to disagree, and underdrive pulley is prob the best mod you can to a NT for the money. I put one on my car and I got a sweeeeet gain. The best part its throughout the whole power band...not just top end or low end. Although maybe on 1g's its different.
 
also how much is it for forged rods and pistons and how hard are they to put in? would it be easier to port and polish the head and intake manifold? thanks

Well i have dynoed my car manytimes with and without of cam gears and with and without underdrive puleys and I had only 1hp gain with i dont even think it was cuz of the puleys.I took away my ac belt so now it is as same as u have underdrive puleys.If u remove ur powerstering u ll fell even better diference but with all the belts on and underdrive puleys no diference at all and even if u have some 1-2hp for 500$ is it worthed???NO.
Mark I dont tell ya not to buy cam gears and puleys but if u do u ll see that there will be no diference and u ll just wayst ur 750$ maybe more.
I had them and i returned them right away. cam gears works better on hondas and tyhe puleys too but for our cars not realy.Cam gears are goot to use if u have high modes like pistons,camshaft,NOS and all that kinda stuff.:thumb:
 
ok thanks for your information racer. but since you said that would I be in the mid 15's or faster if I made my own CAI, bought forged pistons and rods, got 11:1 ratio, header, and a bigger throttle body? This question goes to anyone. Thanks
 
A UDP does not cost $500. I dont know where you got that info. But its not even close to 500.:rolleyes:
 
o well yea my bad I gess i was looking at some of the best one but u can find set of crank,waterpump and alternator for about 400 $ at www.nopi.com (400 or 500 $ not a big diference it is still expensive)
 
Sigh, do 91-94 turbo cam swap. Go with atleast a cat-back exhaust, and probably some pacesetter headers. I dont know how well the free mods do on a n/t, but always worth a try. Along with minor weight reductions (spare tire, back seat) and the right tire pressure (18-20front, 48-50back) and you should see 15s pretty easily.

racer, did you actually try to advance/retard your timing or did you just throw cam gears on and expect to see gains? :rolleyes:
 
does the turbo cam and gears fit right into my 92 talon 2.0? does anyone have the right prices for the things i wrote earlier and how much performance/time difference they would do. if so i would greatly appreciate it. if u know an easy way to get into the 15's without the turbo conversion and NOS that would help too.

I said 400$ for a "S E T" do u understend what is SET mean ?? set of UDP witch includes all of the pulleys (crank,waterpump, alternator).
That 140 there is for water pump pulley only.140 cost ONLY ONE puley
