Where's my low end power?

Why do I have NO low end power on my car? It's like I have a weak turbo once I hit 3000 RPMS, and the power climbs until like 5500. I know this is typical for a low-displacement 4 cylinder engine, but I find myself flooring it and letting off the gas as my RPM's go up. I've driven many other 4 cylinder cars, and they could kill me off a start, just driving normally.
Is there something wrong here, or does everyone have this problem with the 420a?
 
have you done any mods? did it start happening after any mods? has it always done this or did it just start? more info please
 
It's not the mods. Stock, it has always had no low end power. My compression is 175psi accross the cylinders, so that is a little low. But my buddy's stock 95 integra will beat me off the start, and his compression is also about 175psi accross. So, im not sure whats up. Could it be a sensor somewhere, or what?
 
i hear ya, i have no low end power...course im used to the 4.0L I6 i had in my jeep, but come on, launching at 3000 rpm i go so slooooowwwww until about 4500 where it launches off like a mofugger.....so either whats the problem, or what are some mods that can help me with my low end?

4-2-1 header i've heard really improves lower end power over stock. I was going to get one of my 1g NT before the motor decided to blow rings and gaskets all day long. Beyond that, there isn't much you can do that won't cost you a whole junk load of money to spike your lower end torque as far as I know... unless you want to spray.... which I wouldn't recommend... If you're manual at least you have it over me, I had an auto NT, 60' time was 2.3 seconds.... talk about no lower end!

You think you have no low end power now, beat/remove the catalytic converter out of the car. Talk about NO low end torque at ALL. If you're really desperate for low end torque find a supercharger and put that on (as superchargers are good for adding torque)

why would you want to sacrifice high end for some low end?!?!?! ok listen. all headers and gutted cats are good for high end. period. snd that 4-2-1 is not worth it if your gonna lose high end. how about this. Find a turbo 4G63. take the injectors off it which are a instant bolt on upgrade for the 420a. you will not have to do anything about the fuel pump since the turbo cars use the same fuel pump. Trust me I work at AutoZone. the 4g63 comes with 450cc injectors. that is gonna give you more all around power. then get you some plugs wires coilpack and octane booster. CD2 offroad. boosts 20 points 87+20=107.
High end is good.
P.S. My a/c and p/s belt broke and wow!!

Unless you do something to improve airflow, putting bigger injectors in is just going to make you run rich, and rich=slow.

CD2 Octane booster might raise a tank of gas 20 points, thats 2 octane. So a tank of 87 is now 89 not 107 If you want to really boost your octane read Toluene Octane Booster

Yeah, I went with a 2.5 catback system and that hurt my low end but my high-end is better and I like that more. Sure, I might not be that fast off the line but between 4-8 rpms in any gear my car is a throaty beast! I can't comment on the headers but I would like to install one when I get a chance. I guess if I looked at some pocket logger settings to determine if I was running rich I might be able to see if the bigger injectors would help but I don't think that's where my power restrictions are? Sounds like your 420a is running really well since you shouldn't be owned off the line?
 
well obviously you would have to equal out your air fuel ratio. But that is a point i forgot to mention. maybe a meaner cam and definatly a intake.
But truthfully I am a guy who loves high end power. Just watching those v6 maros and stangs fade deeper into your rear view mirror...
