I have a 1997 ecipse N/T. I bought some turbo cams from a 1992tubo eclise. The car only had 20,000 miles on it. I just couldn't pass it up. I got them for $25. The guy said I could put them in my car. I have a couple of questions. First is that a possible change and 2nd I want to buy some aftermarket cam gears do I go with my year of car or 1992 cam gears! Thanks

Have you ever heard of bomz cam gears? What do you recomend

Yeah hoss, those are for the 4G63 and won't work in your car. Sell them and get your money back. And cam gears won't do much, if anything for you. They are a waste of money, IMO.

I already have the head off of my car. What should I do? Is there anything that I can replace that is reasonable that will make a difference??

Well, the only thing I would do to a 420A head is Crower cams, but they are pretty expensive so that might not work. Otherwise, just put the head back on and buy something else.:dsm:

You pulled the head before you asked, or was it already off for something else? And do you have the head off, or just the valve cover? Well at this point unless you can wait for a new set of cams to be orderd and shipped then i would put it back together. Do you have time to wait for that kind of stuff?

the head is off because I was afraid that I might have either bent a valve or cracked a piston. I did bend a valve. I was going to replace that valve. I don't have alot of money. I have already purchased a light underdrive pulley anything else I can do while I have the head off. Should I replace valves or springs or piston rings? What should I clean with? Should I clean everything. I have the time to do anything and everything needed. I just don't have the money to buy new cams? I have a $200. thanks for any of you help!

Well if you don't have the cash then there is not much to do. You could do springs or lifters but they won't do you any good. I would prolly just put it back together. If you want go to howellautomotive and see what they have in your price range.

Best thing to clean the head with is throttle body cleaner. Blasts off a lot of carbon and dries fast. I cleaned out 13 years of carbon buildup on a 1G turbo head with 2 cans of TB cleaner. Works pretty good.
