I went to a pull a part yesterday and was going to get c/v axles, hubs and spindles off a automatic 99 eclipse gs. When I went to pull the c/v axle out the transmission I noticed it looked different than my car. Mine is a manual 96 eclipse gs.

Is the c/v axles different for the manual and automatic transmissions?
If so what is the part numbers, I need both sides.

I called a parts store and they said there was yesterday but when I called today everyone says it isn't showing that there is a difference.

I'm needing to order new parts and I need to order fast so they ship out today, before the weekend.

Thanks.

Only difference appears to be ABS or no ABS. At least per Rock Auto, NAPA and O'Reilly

Yeah that's the only difference I see, but yesterday I called O'Reillys and the guy said there was a difference and gave to different part numbers.

Duralast Reman/CV Axle (8769) | 1996 Mitsubishi Eclipse 4 Cylinders Y 2.0L MFI DOHC | AutoZone.com

here is the axle you want to get. some reason autozone is only showing reman axles but i searched around where i live. the difference they are talking about is a turbo trans and non turbo trans. tell them you have the non turbo eclipse 2.0 and get that axle. there are 4 different part numbers yes but thats also because there is two different brands but same splines.

the last axle i bought was from oreillys but either store is good.

All our 2G non turbo axles are interchangeable. The only difference is the ABS (which won't matter).

Like Jayson said, I about guarantee the parts guy is looking at turbo vs non turbo.

The only difference is the gear on the end by the tire, like others said above, it's for ABS. If you don't have abs, it should not have a gear! If it does have a gear, you want to place a abs axle on the other side.

DO NOT BUY AXLES OR BALLJOINTS FROM AUTOZONE!! I'm currently in involved in a lawsuit against them for these products! "Brand new axle and ball joint had catastrophic failure on me...... twice in two months!! Total damage over 1500$ from these two parts!!!!!

Figured my install was bad, so when it happened again, took it to a very good mechanic, he fixed it.
A week later same thing happened, ball joint came apart again!!!

Axle fell apart after test drive going 2 mph

Ball joint ball separated from inside, also no grease in pocket and no zerg fitting to add grease!
Dropped my car on the ground going strait..

Any part you need to trust your life with, avoid autozone!

:2cents:

For an 70$ ball joint and 50$ cv axle, I now have to replace my drivers side ground effect, inner tire well plastic, drivers side quarter panel, A different brand ball joint "both sides" "figured other one would do the same",two drivers side tires "quarter panel shredded em", front bumper from having to be put on a flat bed, transmission pan "it hit the ground and got scratched/dented badly, 300$ in two tow bills, 1000$ in labor, hours of my time wasted being embarrassed stuck in the middle of a busy road.

If I was on 65 like I am every day doing 80mph, I would not be typing this right now.

If your life depends on a part, don't get it from autozone!

I pray you’re still on this forum and well. I got GSP CV Axles from rockauto and did not check if it was for a manual or automatic. NCV12541 and NCV1250. I currently have a NT RS
