What The Hell Just Happened????!!!!!

I was driving my 94 1.8L Laser today. Pullin outta a stoplight the check engine light came on and the car wont rev past 1,800 rpm (its like im hittin a rev limiter). The check engine light goes off when i push in the clutch and comes on when I let it out and it starts to move the car!!! If anyone can give me some insight, pleeeease do so, i really need to get the car fixed but dont wanna invest tons of dough in a car with 140,000 miles

you are experiencing the same problem, or something like it??
i had to jump start the car today because the battery was dead, and it is makeing a liar outta me. i think i just needed to reset the computer or something b/c it isnt doing it now (but i havent driven it much since then).
i'll let you know what i find out
