Intakes Fer Dummiez?

aight i got a 92 eclipse 1.8 recently i hacked the aircan so my intake system is stock intake piping with K&N air filter with the MAF inside, i took the MAF out to see what would happen and my ride ran like ****, i look at intakes for my ride and the filter doesnt look like it's big enough to hold the MAF, my question is if i get a weapon r intake for example will my car run like hell b/cuz i'm not using the MAF? any help is appreciated, thanx

You need your MAF. Your car will not run right without it. That tells your ECU how much fuel the engine needs by measuring your air intake. It's a good chance you cause some serious damage by running your car without it.

thanx...but.....some intakes won't hold a MAF? are u sayin i can't get a high performance intake? thanx

I have an Injen intake on mine and that fits the MAF just fine. (Check out my pics) But then again I have the 2.0, I'm not sure if Injen makes an intake for the 1.8. If you can find one for your car, the cheapest place I found for one was www.nipponpower.com at $189.99, Every place else wanted well over $200.

I have an Injen intake for my 1.8L coming this week. I'm sure my K&N will fit on the intake tubing so i shouldn't have a problem with the MAS fitting properly.
