benefits of a custom exhaust manifold?

I havent seen much on the specific topic im looking to cover here.

I was wondering, with the obvious availability to engineer your own customer piping for the turbo exhaust manifold, with the tubo in mind, but also uniqueness, what is the best way to efficiently run that turbo while still have 4 tubes running for the manifold ( as opposed to a cast iron block ).

I have seen many things that make me wonder the benefits of each, like one guy on here as his looping up then back down, looks sweet as hell but I wonder if the engine has to work harder for that?

I have also seen people who have their turbos running 2/4 exhaust ports instead of like the cast iron manifold, which is more efficient for the turbo?

Would it be conceiveable to route 1 or 2 of the exhaust tubes in a recirculation sort of manner, thus increasing the flow on the turbo? I would think but increasing the diameter of the manifold piping ( from oem specs ) would make it so this could be possible and not make the engine work harder.

Would like feedback!

Just guaging how interested I really am as custom engineering myself a manifold. Ive seen a few different types.

the most efficiant turbo manifold is going to have equal or at least close to equal length runners, no abrupt turns and a nice low angle merge collector.

First off I know your new but no need to try and impress people by trying to throw big words in your post with the risk of using them wrong ^^^^^^
Anyway like mike said you want equal length runners with a collector like a ram horn or top mount design, or you could go with a short runner style. the benefit of a custom manifold is usualy faster spool, exact turbo location for custom setups and they are you usualy stronger and less prone to crack if built right.

With equal length runners your exhaust won't be as turbulent as it exits the manifold which creates better flow. Better flow= faster spool

And you can mount your wastegate flange/extention any way you desire on the collector.
