Did a search but nothing that answered the exact thing as i needed , sorry if this is a repost but here goes. Almost done with the rebuild on my 420 been awhile now and i got my flywheel in today and went to put it on and the store had ordered one for a turbo 2g. Well they didnt show any other flywheel for the n/a 2g other then the 7 bolt flywheel. I know the 420 is the 8 bolt but i have a 95 and a modular clutch for it and was wondering if the clutch would still bolt up to a 95 dodge avenger flywheel. I found this one online AutoZone.com | Shopping | Parts | Product Detail - Flywheel - Manual Transmission
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

2GNT.com - home has more information.

But to basically answer your question, our 420a motor comes with a modular clutch combo setup, which means that the clutch and flywheel are assembled as one unit before being shipped out.

So when you order a clutch for the 420a motor, your actually ordering both the clutch and flywheel, and then that whole setup is bolted onto the flexplate on the motor.

I don't know about your performance needs, but definately call or email Andy at South Bend Clutch - High Performance clutches, Ford Power Stroke & Dodge Ram Truck clutch kits, feramic and ceramic disks, Kevlar pilot bearings, and heavy duty clutches for passenger/racing cars, agricultural and midsize trucks.

Excellent prices with probably the best quality and customer service on the market (I know I'm jocking their nutz right now, but they fixed my problems very quickly, LOL:thumb:)

But yeah check them out

clutch i bought which im pretty sure it is the modular clutch but i cant see where the flywheel , if it is installed on the clutch, would bolt to the motor. There are 4 bolt holes on the back of the kit but nothing like a flywheel pattern. Maby this is the wrong clutch for the 95? Not sure i just read about the difference in the clutch and up untill today did not know it was a mod. I have some pics i can try and get up.

Ok just read about the flexible drive plate that would connect it , this may be what i am missing that got lost during the almost year long build. I am going to search for it but if no luck any places that carry them? Im guessing it is somewhat of a adapter? I didnt take the clutch off so im not sure. Sorry for the noob questions but this is the first 420 i ever did a build on. Thanks

Yeah , thanks for the help. Im looking for a flex plate i can buy now so i can get this motor in this week. Tried the local car stores and nothing , so im going to look into it more tommorow. Thanks for all the help , Hopefully it will be up and running soon.

Try scrap yards or vehicle part-outs on 2gnt.com. You can use the flex-plate from a Neon, Avenger, and Sebring, as well.

Anyone else notice and think it weird that the Talon and Avenger flywheel have 106 teeth while the Eclipse has 110?

At least through that autozone link that is what you will find. Maybe what is on that site for avenger/talon will not work in eclipse:confused:

Edit: I would not buy a flywheel off that site. The flywheel they have for non turbo talon says that it is for a all whell drive vehicleWTFWTF

The one for their turbo model is the same product number as the non turbo eclipseOMGWTFOMGWTF

Their turbo and non turbo dohc eclipse use the same flywheel and the sohc is the same as the all wheel non turbo dohc talon:confused::confused:

Something is way screwy on that site.

Yeah i saw that at autozone also and let them know they were not selling the 420a flywheel. Got up this morning to put my tranny on after bolting up the avenger flexplate i got and sure enough the tranny doesnt clear it. The starter doesnt fit over the teeth either so back to the search.
