Seems like IAC??

I was driving home today and the CEL came on. The car began to idle at 2000 rpms, while I was sitting in traffic. I was trying to get it to come down, so I began to release the clutch pedal and it the idle would drop down and almost die. I had to give it gas quickly to keep it alive. So the rest of the way home it continued to idle at/around 2000 rpms. When I pulled in the driveway and shut off the car, I tried to get the CEL to blink so that I could count the lights. It would not show me.

I either think it could be the Idle Air Control valve or Throttle Position Sensor, both of which are somewhat costly. I will not be able to take it somewhere until Saturday to get the CEL read. Let me know what you guys/gals think.

Check your vacuum lines too.

I have checked the vacuum lines and they are fine.

Have your CEL read, then let us know what code you get. I'm betting ti's your IAC.

Well, the light went off before I was able to get it checked, but it came on again last night and is still on this morning. I am hoping that it will stay on so that I am able to get it checked. I will let you know. Thanks

I would test the resistance across the pins on the iac solenoid. The pins are numbered 1-4 from left to right and the resistance acoss 1&4 should be 35-52 ohms and the resistance across pins 2&3 should be 28-52 ohms. Hope this helps.

mine was doin the same thing.......i replaced the tps sensor iac motor and the map sensor........it was still doin the same thing

so i took it to a shop and they said my intake manifold gasket was bad and it was drawing air into iy makin the idle surge
