ive had this problem for a while. i replaced my vss and well it still doesnt work. its not the cluster ### when i turn the sensor the speedo moves. could one of the speed sensors by the brakes effect the whole thing from working? i think my trans is all fubar. i heard a pop some around the same time the speedo stopped. and just a few days ago i started getting a sqeal-grinding sound (like the throw out bear). but i think it may be something else. when i feel around the little hole where the vss goes, i feel something like a gear that i can move and pull on in the transaxle. any ideas? on what the problem is? or around how much to fix would be?

If your trans is a little messed, then you likely won't be getting problems with the vss unless it's COMPLETELY gone. The vss would still work in most cases if the wheels are turning.

Could you supply some pics? It's difficult to tell what you are talking about, but it sounds like your internal trans gears are just about gone.

That pop could be nearly anything. How is the clutch response - can you shift?

well the car drive fine. shifts with no problems. clutch doesnt feel worn down. its juct my speedo stopped and my vss works so i dont know what else to check. the crazy sound everyone tells me is the tob. so im working on relacing that and a new clutch. the sound goes away when the clutch is pushed in. now the gear or whatever in the transaxle thats lose where i can move it around, i havent got a clue.. i cant really take any pics inside on the little hole. its lonely like 1.5 inch hole. i can bearly get my finger in there. reason why my finger was in there in the first place is ### i was hopeing i could grab my vss gear that has fallen in the transaxle. my trans has got to come off anyway.. i just want to know what else could make my speedo not work?
