Toronto,
Okay, so I just bought a new FMIC, and I'm thinking about buying a piping kit off the ETDmotors site on ebay

74 plus 35 for shipping, and I get a bunch of tbolts, a couplers, and different bends of pipe.

I just wanted to know who is using these type of ebay piping kits, and if I should be looking to pick one up from somewhere else or not.

Now just a few notes to help those responding.

The striaght couplers are 3ply and not 4ply which kind of concerns me as I was told that you should have the 4ply type all around. (the 90 degree couplers are 4ply)

How is the quality of the piping itself...is there a lot of cutting and welding when trying to put these universal kits together?

And lastly, for those of you who have a FMIC with end tanks on the left and right, and both on the bottom: What should I look out for when trying to route the piping on the passenger side?

Here is the kit I"m talking about....please feel free to link me to any higher quality kits or websites that sell them as well.

Looks good to me for the price. Piping is beaded on the ends which is a MUST. comes with couplers and T-bolt clamps. For a "universal kit" it seems alot better than most of the others I have seen off ebay.

The 3-ply and 4-ply shouldn't make too much of a difference I would think. That was my writeup you read and I figured it would answer most of your questions you had. Any specifics you are wondering about still?

Yeah, coming off the turbo you used a 90* 2-2.5" coupler reducer? Did you have any issues clearing your downpipe and stock fans.....because I'm full 3" downpipe and I've got stock fans and AC still.

I think I'm gonna lose the AC (keep the powersteering though), and go with a couple of 12" slimlines to fix the problem.

I just figured you didn't put on the FMIC with AC in the way did ya?

I originally put the FMIC with A/C and P/S on my car, but I don't have it anymore. I used a straight 2" to 2.5" coupler off the turbo to the ic piping and I believe it was a 70-75* pipe or something from that to point to the left so I could wrap the piping around to the front to attach to the intercooler. Didn't have any problems clearing downpipe or fans. Not sure if the 3 in. downpipe will affect the piping, but I doubt it.

yeah I'll don't think the 3" downpipe is gonne be a big deal anymore ethier, I was worried because my dump tube and 02 sensor were looking like they were gonna be an issue...

I already ordered up the piping kit, and the 12" slimline fans. I'm tossing the AC and taking out the lines make some room up front regardless.

Anyone have any issues cooling their radiator with such a big intercooler infront....I was thinking of fabing up some kind of ducting,

I have a 30.5X12X3 in. FMIC on my car and it has never overheated once. I did get rid of the A/C condensor, so that probably helped with getting more air to the radiator also.

Have you thought about using the fans as a pusher setup to allow more room in the engine bay or do you think it won't be a problem?

Randy, I really like using Evo Intercooler Pipe Kits from ebay... So far the quality has been severely awsome!

I bought the SSAutochrome kit and probably will use it again on the 97. I just like using the pipes, I dont like the Evo Intercooler.

Here's the Upper Pipe with a 50mm BOV Flange built onto it!

As for the Middle Charge pipe that goes from the upper pipe to the Intercooler... it doesn't come with this, but using a cold air intake works out GREAT! :D
Here's the lower pipe. All you need to do from here is just go to Home Depot and get a pipe about 7-8" long, thats about 2" wide... This will go from the lower pipe, to the Turbo!

To update, I haven't installed it yet, (cash flow is a little low and I need tires first) But the piping kit that I bought looks excellent, better quality piping then the SS autocrome piping, (I know because a GSX friend of mine, just bought that same kit for his 2g, and we wanted to cut and re weld the lower section because it stuck out to far to connect with the core.)

The rasied lips help, and to others who are thinking of going with the ebay kits, pay attention to the thickness, 2.0mm at least.

Couplers and tbolt clamps look great too but I won't be able to officialy judge them (or the piping for that matter) until I put it all on the car.

How big is the piping on those EVO kits? I think I might have to get me one, because I don't like my current set-up (e-bay universal kit).

About 2.5 to 2.75"... The pipeing is also very thick... I hit my friend over the head with the upper pipe... almost knocked him out and didn't even dent the pipes LOL... But thats only the kit I bought... there are a few other kits that I can't even flippin figure out how they are supposed to be routed.

SSAutochrome still sells the Intercooler kit.... just not the Intercooler pipe kit. So they sell the IC pipes and an aftermarket Evo IC...

Suuuurrreeee you were!
Thats not the exact kit I bought tho... But the pipes yes.... Mine came with a 50mm BOV... Tial Knockoff... I loved it!

Dude, I had just done the "watch this item" then came back to this page and bam... What do you know, you beat me. :notgood: Lol. What ever happened to you posting a vid of your car like you had said?

Rand, so did you get the universal kit or the EVO kit?
