Niagara,
Well, I'm thinking about getting a new intake and I'm looking into getting the AEM V2. My buddy has one on his prelude and it's pretty sick sounding and he gets pretty good response from it. I tried searching but I came up a bit empty. I just want people to tell me what they think of it if they have it installed on their car.

I currently have the AEM short ram on there now, it's alright, the piping is small, and its not as throaty as the AEM cold air I had on there. I couldn't find dyno results on the AEM website for the short ram, so if someone could let me know their preference when it comes to either of them, let me know.

I really want to hear some things about it before I buy it. If its comparable to the cold air, I might as well just get that and save a couple bucks, but if its noticeably different and preforms a lot better, I would like to know! Thanks in advance guys!

I dont know about the V2 but i do have an AEM short ram in my car as well. My advice to you if you want to get more HP out of your car is to start modifiying other parts. Continueously changing your intake isnt going to give you much either way. Try getting new headers unless your going to turbo your car. Also look into reflashing your ECU in order to have a smother plane of acceleration. You wont feel the difference cause its all in one smooth slope but you will definatly gain times on the 1/4 mile. These are just basics on Hp gain try lookin around for things.

But on the topic I heard from a friend that the cold air is way better then the V2. Im not to sure so dont go off that but yeah.

I already have DC sports headers and an Apexi N1 exhaust.
I don't plan on going turbo, and I don't continuously change my intake, I just want to know which works better with my set up. I have the short ram on there now, I had the cold air on because a buddy of mine was going turbo, but he decided not to, so I gave him the intake back.

I want to know if I should go with the V2 or the cold air. I liked the cold air, but will spend a bit more money if the V2 is worth it.

Is it worth it?

You aren't going to see a big enough difference power-wise IMO to justify the cost of a AEM V2 intake.

Do yourself a favor and don't waste your money on something that's not going to give you any noticeable gain. You already have a conicle filter on your short ram I'm assuming if not one of those weapon R type foam filters, that's basically where the gain comes from. The difference between moving your filter from the engine bay to under the fender really isn't going to drop your inlet temps enough to even shit out 50 dollars for. Just make a box around your filter to shield the heat from your header. If your not going forced induction with your NT nor spending assloads of money on engine internals your mods are basically just making noise.

If you really want to have something custom and you can say you made, take a look into this Corbin's airbox

The V2 might add more to a honda, but are motors seem to respond differently, your short ram is really all you need. You should feel a slight difference if you throw in a testpipe/highflow cat to that exahust setup of yours.

It is a length of pipe with a filter on one end. IMO, you already have a length of pipe with a filter on one end, I wouldn't spend a bunch more money on another length of pipe with a filter on one end.

I have the V2 and it sounds nasty. If you don't want to go turbo then I would recomend it. I did notice a difference but it was also the first thing that I did to the car. The design is susposed to be tuned to keep the pipe charged and at optimum flow through the entire rpm range. If you have the cash its nice but if you have plans for turbo then don't waste the money.

The only time to consider spending so much money on a "tuned" intake pipe is when you've addressed every other area of engine performance on your all motor build and are looking for those last one or two whp to achieve your 200whp goal. Unless you've got a good amount of headwork done and are seriously pushing the limits of all motor DSM tuning, then you're just wasting money if you spend anything more than $50 on an intake pipe.

The greatest gains to be had are realized by reducing the restriction in the intake stream. Reducing temperatures provides almost nil in terms of power gains. It would take a serious reduction in intake temperature to see anything worth noticing.

Let me put it this way, when would you feel that less than three wheel horsepower is worth an additional $150? For $150, I could net you a solid two tenths a second off your fastest, consistent ET, and I would be pocketing $148 of that. (I'd spend $2 on a cold Amp.)
