hey can you put any type of hose to the pcv valve as long as its the same size ?

What kind of hose were thinking of using? Any hose that's oil resistant should be fine there.

I used a piece of silicone hose and it sweats oil...

well i was thinkin about usin one like the one that comes with the intake.

I used the hose that came with my intake a long time ago and it would leak and sweat as well. Just use some heater hose that will fit the valve cover outlet and clamp it on there and to the PCV valve.

DO NOT USE HEATER HOSE. the PCV hose needs to be a hose that cannot collapse. heater hose will collapse in an instant after u use it long enough. use hard emission tubing, or a non-collapsing hose. usually hose like this is 6$ a foot and it will not close up when you rev the engine.

Feel free to use heater hose.

Are you aware of the temperatures that the fluid traveling through those hoses reach? Air traveling through them will be fine. That said, I have had it on mine for years with no problems. I don't know what kind of hose you were using in the past but I sure as hell don't want it anywhere near my car.

Allow me to reiterate, feel free to use heater hose.

I used regular silicone hose from the RRE hose kit and it works fine.

How long have you had that? Because I did that and about 3-4 months later the hose got all nasty from the oil exposure and I had to replace it with heater hose. Heater hose has lasted about 8-10 months though and still looks brand new.

I have probably had it about 6 months and there is no signs of any problems, but then again i only put 10,000 miles a year on my car too, and that could be the difference.

Are you serious dude? ROFL ROFL Please tell me you're kidding. Heater hose collapses in an instant? Talk about misinformation.

And for the OP, like everybody else said heater hose would in fact be the perfect hose to use. Silicone is fine too (even though I wouldn't use it though).

i will put heater hose back on my car and take a picture to prove to you it collapses. they make emissions hose/hard tubing for a reason. or else there would be no point in selling it if everyone used heater hose to rig there jank car together. you dont see brand new cars rolling off the line with heater hose going to there pcv valves do you?? no. no you dont. im pretty sure the engineers have got this thing figured out. when you start to make 6 figures a year designing pcv systems i will use heater hose ok? but until then you can cheap out on your car all you want. go ahead and put heater hose on your fuel line too. im sure it will work just fine. they should just take fuel line and emission hose off the market. its completely pointless. heck might as well just use heater hose for your brake lines too. then you can stop by running straight into wherever your going. just call ahead and tell everyone to get the hell out of your way because your praying heater hose holds up. HEATER HOSE is for HEATER CORES, PCV hose is for PCV valves. i know this will qualify as a "smart ass reply" but im sorry its only common sense.

I used the black silicone hose from my Larson kit and like totaleclipse_05 it weeps oil like crazy. I had to go back to the original formed hose.

I used heater hose as a turbo return line for months and it held up perfectly fine. I'm pretty sure it can hold up as a PCV valve hose just as good, as I am using it on mine for about a year now. I just switched over my PCV valve AND heater hose from my eclipse to my talon because my talon's PCV hoses were leaking and that solved my problem. Been going good for about a month now. I'm sure it will last a while as well. Your car is the only case I have ever heard of that you claim heater hose does not work as well as PCV hose.

Seriously, you must have been using crappy heater hose. I'm always underneath the hood of my car and revving it checking for little problems and have never seen the hose even flex once.

This thread is done, the original poster got his answer. Cykotic, why not give the heater hose one more try? Document it, and if the same thing happens I'll replace mine with 'PCV' hose.

Deal?

I'm using heater hose with no problems, had the same problem with silicon hoses as everybody else.

I've been using the high temp silicon hose with pvc for about 2 and a half years now. It works great, no collapse, no sweating oil or cracking. I have also used silicone vacuume line and it works just as well and costs about 1/4 the price. I've never experienced cracking, swelling, collapsing, or any other problems with either one.

The heater hose collapse might have happened because they make two schedule / categories of heater hose, ones about 1/4 inch thick and the other is about 3/16 thick with wider poly strand reinforcements. TheCykotik1 might have used that one by mistake.

Never seen that before, BUT, I can vouch for Viton.

Our grease pumps at work have Viton seals on the piston shafts, many of our saws use Viton seals at the input and output shafts of the gear boxes, and our Ingersoll-Rand continuous duty eaton-screw air compressors have Viton seals in their rebuild kit.

I have not needed to rebuild the compressor, and its oil gets extremely hot. The grease pumps use a cheap Citgo bearing grease, cold, and the synthetic 80 weight in the saws doesn't get very hot either.

The only reasons I have (as yet) needed to replace Viton seals for are tearing or wear.

Viton hoses seem like an overkill (good) idea. :)

Ohh, and I am still using my factory formed tube. Have used heater hose in past with no problems.

I'm using the hose you buy off the shelf from any auto parts store. It's next to the fuel line hoses, they come in different sizes. Just look in my engine bay and you will see it. It does not collapse, only an idiot would bend it around in ways it wasn't meant to go and then wonder why it's pinched. Remember the pvc valve has to go in there snug, so just take the valve and look for the hose that fits.
