420A 420a W/4g63 turbo set up.

Anyone else on here using the 14b or 16g turbo on there 420a? I have a few questions if you are.:dsm:

I'm confused. How is a boosted 420a using a 4g63 set-up? On top of that, post the questions anyway. There are other people on here who are boosted and know a thing or two.
 
First: what I mean by saying 420a with 4g63 set up, is using a stock gsx, gst, tsi.... turbo, or a 16g evo turbo in a 420a. Second, I have a couple questions. I was wondering if using the heater hose line that comes out of the thermostat housing, direct that in to the water cooler inlet on the turbo and then on the outlet side, send it back to the heater core. Basically "T" the turbo in the middle of the heater hose line. I know you don’t half to use it, but would that work alright? I don’t feel like taking time to try it if its pointless. Next question, Is for anyone else that has this turbo set up, or anyone with a turbo 420a has had any problems with the heat and their starter? I haven’t, I just want to avoid future problems. There isn’t much clearance between the turbo and starter, I’m thinking that some heat wrap would be a good idea. My last question is about keeping everything cool. Like I can mount a small fan on the fuse box side of the radiator, or would pusher fans on the front of the radiator be a better idea? The plans are for 20 PSI keeping cool is a good idea. hahaha so much time and money put into a fwd sometimes I wonder if its worth it.;)
 
If your only referring to the turbo, being the 4g63 setup, does that mean you are still using a log style manifold or a tubular design? I can't see how your turbo is affecting the starter in any way, if you are using a log style. Heat wrap always helps keep temperatures down.

Now there are a lot of different suggestions in helping keep the engine bay from heat soak, but it all depends on which route you would like to go. By putting fans what are you trying to accomplish? the hot air will still remain in the engine bay. Do a search for cooling, it's been covered countless times:

There are also some quick ways to help get heat out of the engine bay, taking off that weather strip below the windshield. Do some reading and see which one best suits you.
 
I used to have a 14b set-up on my old 420a car. I didn't have any heating problems, except that I did not wrap my radiator hose, and I had to mount my turbo really close to my hood (it didn't do anything bad, just bugged me). i never had any problems with my starter at all. if you are worried about it, then get some starter wrap from summit or dynamat.

What I did for cooling was I wraped the top of the dp and fmic for the intake. Another idea for you is to "hotwire" your fans so you have a switch for them to turn them on and off whenever your want.
