I have no clue which hose you are reffering to. Can you give some details?

I want to make sure there's no confusion between the heater hose and coolant hose/tube. Can't figure out which one you are talking about..

If you aren't talking about a radiator hose or something that size, you can maybe try a Lowes or similar hardware store and check out the plumbing section. I bought some heater hose from there for like around a dollar a foot and it was holding up very nicely, until the deer took out my car that is.

If you're talking about the heater hoses in the rear/driver's side of the engine that connect to the firewall, I just recently replaced those with 3/4 inch bulk heater hose that I had lying around. I bought a pack from Advance Auto Parts a while back, which was like a 6 foot piece or something along those lines. I used 2 clamps on each end of the hose to make sure it was on very securely, because the stock clamps that were on mine were a pain(!!!) to get off. When my heater hose blew I unknowingly ended up blowing my headgasket as well, so after you fix it make sure there's not a bunch of smelly smoke pouring out of your exhaust.

5/8" inch hose is the proper size. If you get the hose at anywhere other than Advance/AutoZone (i.e. Lowe's/Home Depot) make sure it says "heater hose" so it can stand up to the heat and pressure.

The hoses that connect to the heater core itself are formed with the proper bends, curves, but they aren't necessary.... regular bulk hose can be used. The only hoses that must be ordered are the two large radiator hoses.

Thnx guys you've been a great help, how much heater hose should i grab and i do got one more question LOL i hope i aint annoyin but my throttle is sticking (like when i leave the car to idle it idles at 4,000 rpms.) U think sanding it wil work? im not sure how common this problem is but thanx once again

DON'T sand it. You have a vacuum leak. Probably need a new throttle body to intake manifold gasket thats all. also check you vacuum line on the TB.

For how much heater hose to use, you could always just measure the original hose if you have it, maybe make it an inch or two longer so it's easier to put on. Or if you cut the living hell out of the original just to get it off like I did :p, then just kind of cut a length of hose that looks like it would work, then trim it as needed. Make sure you start with a piece that is obviously too long and try taking cutting an inch off at a time, to prevent your piece from ending up too short. As for buying a length, I'd say go with buying a 6 foot bulk piece, which is usually pre-wrapped and on the shelf somewhere in most auto parts stores. While you're fixing this hose, you might as well replace the other heater hose that's right by it, just for the personal satisfaction of knowing that it's not going to break on you.

if you go to advance they stock a heater hose for it and it has one pre molded bend to keep it from rubbing on the intake manifold. and just curious does anyone else think that those heater hoses on the 420a are the biggest pain in the ass ever?? i did the head gasket on my car in around 6 hours and just the other day it took me 2 hours just to change those 2 heater hoses.

Good call about replacing the heater hose being a PITA. When my car first overheated, I found that one of the heater hoses was completely blown out on the bottom and I had to replace it, and it SUCKED. It was the first thing I've really ever done to a 420a though, so it might've just been weird because I was really new, but I agree it wasn't a wonderful thing to replace.
