My car has been having some problems and such, and its been pissing me off lately. Its a 99 Eclipse Gs with about 68k miles on it. I was wondering from all you DSM owners out there, how much it would cost to rebuild the engine to hold turbo capablilties, along with a swap to manual. The car itself was a steal, 4k for a salvaged title. So Putting work into it is fine by me. I just wanted to get a price range for everything, and maybe some feedback on whether its worth the time and money. Thanks!

You will spend some money in the bottom end if you want to run a good amount to boost. Rods and pistons can add up.Transfer to manual will take some time and money. I guess it depends on how far you want to go and your money situation.

Keeping a stock head and only building the bottom end for boost, I'd say you're looking at around $2500 for a nice rebuild plus or minus a couple hundred. The tranny swap varies too much to say. You could get everything you need for under $500, but you have to shop around.
