st pete,
Ok, Ive been all through this forum and cant seem to find a straight answer on these questions:

1: On a '94 Eagle Talon with a 2.0, what is the optimal size for a catback exhaust, and what is the stock size exhaust thats on now? I want some nice low-mid range acceleration without losing backpressure.

2: What are some good brands of cat-backs to use? I dont want a car that is too loud, but a nice little rumble would be nice. Just nothing rediculously loud.

3: Which of the answers for question 2, are the best for the money? I dont want to spend $300 more for an exhaust with an almost neglegible difference, I dont feel its worth it.

4: Where can I find "good" cat-back systems for "good" prices to buy? Any site links would be helpful, since it's been a big pain in the a$$ to find products for a non-turbo '94 and older.

Thanks for your help.

I have a 2G, but I still feel that a custom made 2 1/2-2 5/8 inch exhaust with a Thermal muffler and tip will be your best bet. It will sound deep and will provide more power. You should not lose much bottom-emd power, plus it will save you money. Just my opinion. No other exhuast is gonna make a $300 performance difference from another, so I think my option would be the best one unless you have a great desire to have a largely manufactured "name brand" cat back.

i also have 2.5 in. catback. same power gain and a hell of alot cheaper. its the way to go. i paid 350 for my high flow cat, and 2.5 in. piping from cat to muffler and to take out the resonator. i already had a muffler so no charge for that.. but since, i have gone through 3 muffler's and am now happy with the one i have now, FINALLY good luck:dsm:

OK, so 2.5" is good. I was looking at getting a pacesetter monza cat-back installed for $200 including installation. I've been searching around the net a lil bit and saw that quite a few people were happy with it, and a couple people changed the muffler afterwards, which I may do also. What do you think? Also, what type of muffler are you using?

does removing the resonator help with power gains??? Also without the res, does it get real noisy?

ok. Thanks for your help on the exhaust.;)

now what about the intake on a 1g? is cai worth it? I got a quote for an Injen Short Ram with an open end for adding onto it if I want, for $210 installed. Any advice on that??

With the pacesetter catback exhaust, you get what you pay for, so don't expect anything big. Too many DSMs with bad experiences with them yet some people like them.

There arent any CAI systems for 1G DSMs, so stick with the Injen short ram intake. Try to make (or get someone to make) a custom heatshield to keep the heat away from the intake and you shall be fine for sucking in cold air.

well, theres no doubt to that. I was an elevator mechanic for 8 years, hehe. But thats just the quote he gave me. Anyway, what do u think about the injens? and is cold air worth the extra $ on a 1g?

BTW, the injen short ram that he quoted me has an open end for adding cai to it.

210? to me thats pretty steep, i paid 90 for an RD CAI off ebay, installed myself and i couldnt be happier with it, looks good, sounds great, seems to have made my car a little more torquey so its win win in my eyes

Tenshoa there are parts for 90-94 DSM cars. go to www.jcwsportcompact.com and www.nopi.com you can get all different intakes and exhausts for this car. Also you can go to www.ebaymotors.com and search the parts & accessories for other various parts.

Injen makes a good Cold Air intake for $209.00 and it can be seen at www.nopi.com also there is the Weapon-R Dragon Air intake for $186.95 at nopi and the K&N Air intake for about $129.00 at J.C. Whitney. Most people say the K&N air filter is the best and sucks in the most air, but it doesn't look like the name brand Cold air intakes.

You can get aftermarket Exhausts/cat backs from Ebay for as low as $40. You can get some name brand ones for around $70-$100 with silencers so it won't be unnoying loud all the time. If you don't get one with a silencer and you don't like the loud noise, you will be sorry for not getting one with a silencer.

www.assylumms.com has some parts for 92-94 Talons/Eclipses, but some people say they are not good to order from. They have a cold air intake for $99. Go to www.stylinconcepts.com and they have parts for a 90-94 DSM car. Stylin concepts have air intakes for $15,$30, $129 and up. Take a look and personal message me if you are looking for a particular aftermarket part for a 90-94. I have pretty good resources for this car. Most stuff you can get from Nopi and J.C.Whitney. Email me and let me know what you are looking for.:thumb:
