Talon DL question

A friend of mine has a Talon DL that he just got. He says the 1.8 engine in it is stock and has 180hp. From what Ive seen, they come with more like 130hp stock. I was wondering if there were any special DL's made in 94' (the year his talon is). I have the ESI with 140hp stock and im wondering how a 1.8 stock engine in a talon DL could have that much more hp than my little talon esi. Any info is appreciated, thanks.

Oh and by the way, His talon DL is a manuel transmission. I was thinking that since it was a manuel transmission that the car would have some more power than the auto trans in my car.

Boy, your friend dosent tknow his @ss from a hole in the ground. His mighty Talon DL is a 1.8L SOHC rated at a whopping 92hp!!! With a 5spd it can be a little peppy, but nothing to worry about.

yup.. your friend don't know apples from oranges.. his single cam 1.8L whoppin 92hp DL is far from 180hp.. and if he ever get's it up to 180hp have him post a thread and let us see what he's runnin

Your correct, its only an 8V SOHC. In the 1.8Ls defense... I used to have a 94 Talon DL 5spd. I had intake, exhaust, plugs/wires and it was a pretty peppy car. I beat it down for over 2 years, and I never put a dime into. Those 1.8s run like Hondas.

No, the 5spd helps alot, but not that much. The 1.8L has 92 hp for cryin-out-loud!! The 2.0 has 140.

i have seen a stock manual esi beat an auto tsi though.. i know this cuz i was racing it.. .. no lie..
