does anyone know where to be the exhaust setup that looks like dual exhaust but still gives a nice loud sound

a dual exhaust would probably eliminate a lot of backpressure. for a non turbo this is not a good thing. some back pressure is needed to maintain low end power.

dont get a dual exhaust. if anything just hang a muffler for show. you loose power on a n/t.

But it can be done, right? Does it sound like crap? Just curious because I'm thinking of doing it. If you only lose like 3 hp or I'd do it. Hp's not that much of a concern to me. I do however plan on going turbo next year but just Hahn stage 1 at 5 psi.:dsm:

It can be done, but there's really no point other than for show. Top-end will suffer greatly as well. If you have any desire for speed, don't do it.

Thanks guys, I'm probally gonna just go with a fake one. I know it's kinda stupid to put up a fake can, but I think duel-exhaust DSMs look bad-ass,IMO.:dsm:

just get a y-pipe put on your exhaust and put a muffler on it you wont lose any power if you stay the same pipe size.

Well it isnt as easy as just getting a y-pipe with our cars since our gas tank is kinda in the way. There is one guy that did it on 2GNT and im sure he has lost some power because of it. It does look good though and please if you do do it make it functional. Also the best way to do it is to use bigger piping, such as 2.5" before the split and then smaller piping afterwards like 2.25 or 2"s that way the performance loss wont be as great.

Also backpressure in your exhaust is never a good thing, the reason you dont want to go with too large of an exhaust is the loss of exhaust gas velocity which causes the loss of bottom end power

Dualgen2 has done it and it looks and sounds great!! He is turboed though so he might not have too many problems with the back pressure. I'm pretty sure he told me that he got the muffler shop to make a custom set up.

i was wondering why do some sunfires come with a dual exhaust setups their only four cylinders and thats how they come stock

Actually the Sunfire GT is a 6cylinder.

yeah their still 4 bangers so why do they come with a dual exhaust setup?

You can put dual exhaust on there so long as you keep the piping diameter small. If anything... reduce the piping size to save the performance aspect and put whatever you want on there for the looks side of it. Remember it's only going to flow as much as the smallest restriction. So go down to like 1.5-1.75" piping and it should all be gravy. Not cost effective nor power gaining... but it's your money.

my buddy has a sunfire GT. He had dual Ractive mufflers on it and a custom cat back. He changed it to single exaust and got a LOT more power. He's faster than me now:(. He's got about $2000 in to his engine though. Ive only spent $500.
