Ok Ive got quite a problem on my hands. Im sure this has been answered before, but here we go. Ive got a 97 GS N/T of course. Its automatic so that makes for slow goin'. Well after i get past 60 MPH, gettin to 80-90+ is easy. Good top end. But from 0-45 or so and in the low RPM, it seems like i could be dusted by a Ford Fiesta. (no dissin guys with cool fiestas....) I need a bolt on or some kind of tuning to get my car faster on the low end of the spectrum. please help me!!!

EMAIL Joe Rivera at [email protected] you can buy a torque converter for your automatic that sells for about $395.00 plus shipping. The stall speed is 300-800 above stock. This should give you better low end torque besides the usual Intake/Exhaust/Headers set ups.

Also try Level 10. They sell upgraded torque converters. It is hard to find info on this website for automatic transmission upgrades, but so far what I have learned is the torque converter that we have is made for economy and not strong off the line acceleration. I too want to be faster in the 0-45mph zone. This is where all stop light races take place. Anything faster than that on most normal streets will get you a ticket. Hope this helps:dsm:

I can sell a new 3500 stall converter for $200. Maybe.

Also if you want to get to 45 quicker I got a mod for you. Change your final drive gear haha. Knock about .5 seconds off your quarter time. 2GNT has part numbers and info. About $100 and easily best mod for $$ for an auto 2gnt.

Thanks guys! Ive looked into torque converters before but never really paid too much attention to them. I think ill look to that route. Oh and just curios but if i was wanting to improve my low accel wouldnt i want to tighten my first couple of gears, considering im at about 65 by the time i hit 4th gear. haha thanks though its still a cool idea!

dude my car is 5 spd. and its a f*ckin dog in the low rpm's, a dog i tell ya. unless i launch or rev the #@%#@%#@%#@% out of it then it can be pretty quick, not fast but its quick from like 4,000 rpm's and up. any lower and its a friggin dog.:barf: OMG

fvulflea- how is your car in thrid and doing 110mph. what mods have to done. when i get out of third i'm doing about 90mph at 7000rpms.

i have an auto too, and 3rd shift around 70mph, of course my car is slow @ low rpms.

does anybody knows how much to install a torque converter, because when i torque brake the highest i can get is around 1800rpms-2000rpms.
And that sucks.
