alright on DSMTalk.com they have a seperate forum for 1.8l engine's now i know it is a lot more work but i think it would be worth it to us 1.8 guys.....
WHO's WITH ME????!!??

No because there isn't enough real 1.8L tuners out there.

I kind of like having everything into one.

I think they would make a 2g non-turbo and 1g non-turbo section WAY before it ever was broken down to a 1.8L.

yeah, that's exactly what we need a forum for 1.8 only so you guys can talk about can you turbo a 1.8, 4g63 engine swap, and other repative pointless threads... NO, i think not! it's bad enough here in the n/a forum where almost every thread is a turbo question, sorry i don't mean to rant or flame, i'm just stating the obvious.

what's sad is how true that statement really is.

i think it'd just be easier to start a forum on why swapping with a turbo engine is just so damn expensive. that'll prolly clear out the clutter of the N/A forum at least :)

I am with you. It would be nice for us peeps that like our 1.8 to talk without having to skim through the non turbo forum and skim through all the 2.0 postings.
I guess us 1.8 lovers can always leave dsmtuners and go to dsmtalk.com to talk.
I really like dsmtuners, there is a lot of good info and I would love to stay a member of dsmtuners!
I am all for it!

thanks kyle, i was begining to think i was the only one that thought this way... t his is why im always in the hangout. this forum angers me with all the dumb 5 th grade level threads, and i dont know enough about the 4g63 to be of much help there so i stay in the hangout. i dont have enough pacients to be in the n/a forum.

yes i agree this forum is unbelievably repetitive. not to sound like a dick but we should have a sticky about using the search button. yes im guilty of a couple repeated ?'s in here. but other than that i use the search button. it sucks having to weed through the same old repeated threads/?'s. i mean u can only take so much of it, i hate even coming in here. just my .02.:(

There is a lot of repetative comments on how to turbo my 2.0 liter quite a bit. All of us want to make our 1.8 liter or 2.0 liter faster. This is what tuning is all about. What I have seen is that there are only so many ways (FEW) to make a non-turbo fast.
1) Is the Turbo SWAP
2) Nos/Nitrous Oxide Set-Up
3) Air Intake, Headers,Downpipe, Cat-back exhaust. Pulleys, CAMs, 8MM wires, Perf.chip or ECU Module.

There are only but a few ways to make a DSM non turbo fast. Somebody should condense all the different stages down to list that is BETTER THAN THE TUNING GUIDE. The tuning guide is too generic and general. Make a Bolt on Guide for dummies like me:cry: . Make a home super mechanic guide for those who can do the turbo swap. Top of this page is a start, but I think you need to spell it out more on a seperate page. Basically what I am saying is the reason people keep asking the same question is one they don't do the search, but then again the search does not always help you if you don't type in the exact right words, which you may not know!!!

There will be no peace until somebody puts all the mods that can be done and compile them exactly on one or two pages. Searching for everything does not always work so............the repetative questions will keep coming.......coming......
:(

Here is a link to an ideal that I think that we should adopt and it would end a lot of repetative questioning. Click on the link and you will see a webpage for a Stealth/3000 GT tuner company.
What I like about this page is they put how much horsepower and what mods to do to get different stages of horesepower. They break down the upgrades for a non turbo into stages. It is the perfect set-up for dummies.;) If you want this much horsepower...............then do this and this. If you want this much than do this. It tells the exact parts cost and what you need to get. We should do a STAGE of upgrades for our NON-Turbo DSM cars. Does anyone agree???

Also by every mod we could list with links the best places to get the item for the best quality and best price. We have the internet, the knowledge so we should help each other out quicker, faster and much more organized. Until we compile all of our shared knowledge in a better format we will keep going around in circles.:dsm:

Somebody do a Non-Turbo in staged upgrades. I know a lot of you really experienced and mechanically inclined guys can break it down and quick. I can help with links. I have some great links for getting parts for 1 generation cars. I also know of places to get good rim/tire deals. We should caliberate together and break down the best headers (link) go here...cost $149.00 etc.

The best Air Intake Injen (polished) part #1000093 Cost $200.00 link=www.jcwsportcompact.com

Something like this in addition to estimates or dynos of how much horsepower increase in STAGES with links this would be awesome. We just are not organized enough:barf:

i was one of the people(person) who asked for the 1.8l forum on dsmtalk.com. before that (sub)forum there was a thread entitled "all things 1.8 in here". i thought that this thread was awesome and after reading it i realized that there was a lot of information in that thread but it was nearly impossible to find anything that you were looking for in it because it was so long. i figured that it would be good to set up a forum so that people could find the info easier so i sent a pm to a mods and they agreed to make it. there is a lot of conversation in that forum that does not apply to the 2.0l guys, and they would probably be just as happy not having it clogging up the n/t forums. ill admit that there is a fair share of turbo threads in there but a turbo conversion to a 1.8 is different than a conversion to a 2.0n/t so that is why it is in there instead of in the n/t forum. from my point of view this added forum is not a form of whining about not getting recognized in the dsm community or any other of complaints from the 1.8l crowd but it is a way to further narrow your posting location.
sorry for the legnth and the half a$$ ranting
have a good one and i hope that the mods consider this one.
peace
-Jeff
