Im new to the NA world of eclipse and i was wondering if its possible to put the NA engine in the 3000GT SL in the NA eclipse. It looks alittle bit big to me. Or would it be just better to get a 3000 dollar turbo kit that would give me around 250-275hp

It will cost you more than 3k to "TRY" to shoehorn that 6cyl in. then you will need all custom fabbed mods that will cost more than what's out ther now for a minimal HP gain.

im trying to find a 95 talon tsi FWD for a daily driver. I have my GSX locked away in my garage covered and im looking for a draily drive that looks good and has some show to it. I really dont think i could give up a turbo car.

I think all TSI's are the turbo cars, if you want an NT you would have to get the ESI. Im not sure though cuz I dont know too much about the Talon's. As far as the V6 swap, its possible but would be a lot of work. There was actually a GS with the swap done on sell on Ebay a while ago. It would be easier to swap in the 2.4L 420a or just tubocharge the car.

no the swap wont work, the motor is too big to fit in the small space given under the hood of an eclipse/talon. not only that, the cost to modify a 3kgt motor will be about 2-3 times more than it would cost to modify a420a or 4g63. and FYI 1tuffRS, the 420a is a 2.0l, the 4g64 is a 2.4l used in n/t spyder eclipses and 2000+ rs/gs eclipses, and it doesnt have very much power potential either, so if anyone's thinking about swaping a 420a for a 4g64, dont waste your money, i have yet to see a 4g64 break the 240 mark.

Believe me when I say I know what Im talking about. The Chrysler 420a comes in many different forms. This engine comes in the PT Cruiser, the Dodge Neon, some of the chrysler vans, the cloud cars (stratus, cirrus, etc), and our cars as well. They also came in both 2.0L and 2.4L configurations. Just putting the 2.4L bottom end w/ our better flowing head on the car (which will bolt right up to the block) you will be making around 170 crank hp and an additional 30lb ft of torque w/o any other mods. As far as the V6 in the 2G, I have seen the pics and have them saved on my pc. Im haven't moved back into my dorm room so I dont have access to them at the moment, but if you go over to the 2gnt forums and make a post about it you will definitely get some pics of the finished product

I dont have to worry about having a NA car. Last night i went out and bought a 95 TSi for pretty cheap as a daily driver. Thanks for the info guys.

i am still looking for a 1gen to roll in, so i dont drive my 96 eclipse as a daily driver, any help finding one near or around oregon.

No, the Avenger guys still have yet to get that engine to fit in their car, and they have 2 more inches to work with. And the block is identical to the 2.5 v6 avengers come with. However teh 3.0 DOHC heads are too big and hit the firewall etc.

I know it would be kinda stupid to ditch the mighty 4g63, but I recently talked to a guy at my work that put a 3.0 V6 in his eclipse. I'm sure he had to customize a lot of stuff to do this but he claims he gets some real mean torque and throttle response, and that it actually fits in quite easily.
And that he's planning on fabricating his 14B to perform C.P.R. on the V6.
Has anyone ever heard of this before? or is this guy probably just talking out of his ass?

I'm sure anything is possible, but why? All of the extra weight in the front of an already front-heavy car is not going to do the understeer any good, and since most of the torque of that engine is made at a low RPM, it isn't going to go very fast, anyway. Unless, of course, he decides to redesign the whole motor to make use of the turbo, but still don't see it being any faster that it would be with the 4g63 for anywhere close to the same amount of money. Tell him that he should have done a Grand National motor!

Probably talking out his ass. I know the 3si guys use the bottom end of the motor in there build-ups sometimes.

I found this Galant FWD in a junkyard, and the engine and all was in perfect condition physically. 3.0 V6. So I started thinking. Would a swap into a Eclipse/Talon be possible. It looks like it would all fit, and it got me thinking about possibly attemtping this crazy swap. Let me know if any of you all have heard of this kind of swap being done, or what probems one would look to expect when doing the swap. I started running the ideas of having a TT Talon, so I am all for it, if it would work. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks guys. Cody

I am not certain on this but I really dought it. a 3.0 V6 is a heck of a lot bigger than a 2.0 4 banger

hmm well i say if you can get the trans to hook up or another one that will fit and work.. to and.. get the good ol mesureing tape out and see if it look like you can weld your self up some motor mounts.. if it looks good i say go for it.. (probly regret it big time) but i wana see you try
