wet or dry nitrous on a stock 420a????

which one is better, dry or wet nitrous for a stock 420a motor?? i heard stories both ways and i want to be sure which one is safer for my car. Any expers please gimme details on the differences between the two!! thank you.
 
well, i dont know if your aware how they work but ill just throw it out there anyways. wet has its own nozzle with its own fuel sorce and injects fuel for you, and the dry use a vaccume line to raise fuel pressure. now for which one is safer, well it kinda goes like this. both are equally safe or equally dangerous to use. just make sure that you are at full throttle(have to be with zex) and that your rpm's are definatly above 3k, but i usually wait till 4k to be safe. i dunno if your auto or not, but if you manual, hitting fuel cut can be dangerous. with a dry kit its not very dangerous. it does create a lean condition, but since there is no fuel going in the cylinder its just air, and plain air cant hurt anything. with a wet kit its a little more dangerous, but not too bad. when fuel cut happens, you do go lean, but you do still have a close amount to the fuel thats needed being sprayed in. there is only enough fuel for the nitrous, so the air that is being normally sucked in has no fuel, thats the leaness. but this isnt too dangerous if you just use common sense and either dont hit fuel cut or let go of the pedel if you do hit it. ive hit it with my wet kit and nothing happened. dry kits are also a little little more dangerous because you go lean every time you spray,where with a wet its not that lean.

the real advantage of the wet kit isnt appearant right away. both come with and are good up to 75hp(zex kit at least). that is as much as i would be comfortable spraying in my engine. now, if you get a rebuild and some sort of timing controller(greddy emanage can do it and its only $375) then you will want to raise the shot(just be careful with anything over 100 cuz you might blow the welds on your intake :p ... ok sorry) but with a dry kit, 75 is as high as you can go without upgrading injectors and fuel pumps... while with a wet kit, you may need a new fuel pump but thats it, your kit will be ok to shoot a shot that large. so its all up to you, but personnally i had to go with a wet kit since the 96-99 dont have fpr's, but even if mine did i would still have gone with a wet kit. i feel its a bit safer with adding its own fuel and it has more potential. its your choice, choose wisely
 
GSGoinfast has some good info there. I mostly agree with most of it, but generally he is correct in what he is saying. (I think both dry and wet are equally safe in all instances, I have hit rev limiter with both and nothing happens) Wet is more dangerous in the hands of stupidity because your dealing with fuel. Generally if you can't handle it have a shop install it.
