I got a short ram intake on ebay and I'm curious about supporting it in the bay...what has everyone else done? I was sent one straight bracket, about 5 inches long, with three holes in it, and one straight bracket that was bent into an L-shape with one hole in it. Anyone experience something similar? How'd you support your intake for shaking and normal driving?

I had to cut the rubber boot, a little more than an inch had to be taken off for it to even fit at all, and as it is it's a tight squeeze between the washer fluid reservoir and the battery and clamps...anyone else have fitting issues with their install? how'd you solve? anyone else have to trim the boot?

I installed a CAI on my brother-in-laws 97 Eclipse GS and had the same issue with the boot that attached the CAI to the intake. I had to trim it down and it was a tight fit. Now as far as brackets, this one didnt come with brackets, it just had one mounting boss welded on the lower pipe (full CAI, 2 piece). Aside from the trim I had no problems, and the boss attached by screw to one of the mounts for the old air box.

Good Luck! Joe :thumb:

My eGay shitRam (as I call the thing) came with the little bracket to bolt to the car and then to... where? There's nothing on the damn thing to connect the bracket to. So I need to cut some material off the pipe where it meets the tb so it won't be pressed into the battery tie down. In the meantime, I just put some silicone hose over the battery tie down bar and it sits just fine. I'm glad I did't pay more than $30 for such a lame mod. :D

regardless how lame you think it is, the cheap intakes off of ebay work just as well as $175 AEM intakes.

saying that, the brackets are a waste of time since when you clamp it to the throttle body that should hold it in place no problem. The tie down on the battery does $uck, but I tore mine off right away anyway so my strut bar would fit too.

AEM versions do come with a nice bracket welded on, but the cheaper ones on ebay are a little bigger and actually sound better.

nontheless, it is a tighter fit, but works well, no need for the brackets

i have to remove my battery or at least take the tie down off and lean it back whenever i want to install or remove my intake. its a very tight fit.

my CAI was a tight fit but I got it squeezed in there, since its an AEM it does have the bracket already on it which didn't exactly fit perfect at first. I had to do some adjusting to get it mounted correctly but now it fits like a glove.

ya i had trouble getting that rubber mounting thing in the airbox hole, but i eventually got it in, altho not all the way. it still does the job fine tho.

hmmm...

my AEM cold air intakr fit like a charm and works wonderfully....name brands dont get big for no reason, they do make quality products and thats why people pay more money for them

not saying i dont like it, i love it, just was a pain in the ass to install cause it doesnt fit without removing your battery, and that rubber mount wouldnt go in right. i still love it it sounds sick!

i had no problems with my ebay short ram intake.the extra bracket, well it will serve some purpose someday.while the boot fits fine.it is a little tight with the jeep tb though.i would take an injen or an aem v2 over the ebay intakes anyday, but my pocket won't let me. :p
