also whats this i heard about using a gm MAFS gm ones are the small little ones right like on my cavalier how can i do that that would work better than this big hunk of plastic in my engine compartment

the Gm mafs that we use on are cars are also used in conjunction with a translator, the translator is setup for the turbo models, i'm not sure but I dont think they will work for us as they arent designed for us. The NT's dont get kool stuff :thumbdown

YES, you can use the GM MAF and the translator on a N/T.
You can use anything that is not turbo related on the N/T.

ok then my next question would be where can i get these parts and how do i put them in? pictures would be nice to see

Check www.vfaq.com for instructions for the install.
Check Ebay for the translator and for the GM MAF.
You can also get working GM MAFs at the junk yard pretty cheap... just make sure that you take a multimeter with you so you can test it before you buy it.

The translator settings are adjustable.... you can use it to tune much like a SAFC.
Just set them all to zero (0) and it will just translate the readings into Karman so your ECU will be able to read them... the ECU will then make any adjustments that are needed.
The main reason for switching to the GM MAF is the lack of air restriction that the DSM MAF has. once you get a EGT and a REAL Air fuel gauge....(NOT the blinky lights!), you can then use the translator's settings to tune your car just like you would with a SAFC.. Only most people think that the Translator has better adjusability.

On a serious note though, nobody driving a NT is gonna max out their stock maf so there is no need for this unless you plan on running some sort of stealthy cold air induction.

does any one know any ways to hack the mas on a 90 laser nt? let me know thanks

Yes, take the maf off of its housing and remove the circular round screen behind it to improve airflow. (Not the sgaure front one!) Then hack the air box can so your air filter is exposed. Get a K & N
