new set of gears

i saw a couple of people talking about changing there gears. are they talking about transmission gears. and would they make a big difference in power on a 97 eclipse.

You will need to be a LOT more specific. What were they talking about when talking about these 'gears'? If it is tranny, they probably need to replace it because they blew the tranny. If it is cam gears, then they are talking about replacing the stock gears with aftermarket adjustable gears.

Judging from your post, you don't need either right now (unless you just blew your tranny). Look up 'adjustable cam gears'.

i'm talking about trany gears. and if they blow the trans. is there any other trans that will give me more power.

No trans in the world 'makes you power'. They only transmit the power the engine makes.

Different gearing may make it feel more powerful, more torquey, higher top speed etc, but it doesn't 'make' power, it only loses it via drivetrain parasitic loss.

I am assuming that you are n/t. If you have the 420A powered DSM ( 2G) then I have heard that you can use the gears from the R/T Neon. I have also heard that you can use the gears from a Dodge Stratus. I don't know what kind of difference they would make cause I have not done it myself. If you are really thinking about it just do your research.
