iam new and have some questions about mods for my 90 laser rs

i have a 1990 plymouth laser rs, and am a newbie. i would like to know what i could do to my car to get some more hp and speed. i am 18 and have limited money. i don't want a dragster just a car that is quick enough to take some of those other street racers out there!!!! i will just say thank u to anybody who replies. u can email me at [email protected] for any other advice.

hopefully you have the 16-valve 138hp engine and not the 8-valve 92hp engine. if you have the 2nd one then you are S.O.L. and i can't help you but if you have the first one, it's the 4G63(same engine as the gs-t and gsx just without the turbo) so it's realtively easy to turbo it. people say that dollar for dollar, nos is the best mod, but you can only have so much nos. nos really won't get you beating that many people. i would reccomend a small turbo (like a 14b, i believe they come stock on the 5-spds and 2Gs so i dont think it would be that hard to find one used which should proove realtively inexpensive) and some other stuff (not really sure here) and you'll be straight. you should also get a 2.5" or 3" exhaust and downpipe if you go turbo and probably some sort of less restrictive intake too. thats assuming you're n/a, of course

Is the RS a turbo? I'm not fimiliar with the Laser trim levels. I have a Laser RS, (daily driver) but it's an NT and AT; definately not a project car.

Not to nit pick, but you might want to remove "aluminum wing" from your "speed parts" list in your profile. It doesn't make your car faster.

Just to let u know that my laser is a n/t and is the 2.0L twin cam. I was planning on buyinga 3A racing exhaust and a K&N or Matrix cold air intake. how much hp and speed will that give me. If anyone has any info on where i can get a performance chip for my car it would be great.

Pick up a 13G turbo, stock SMIC, the pipping and ECU with wiring harness, boost guage and controller and set it up to run about 7 psi of boost (No more or your pistons will fail or you will blow a rod through your block)...
