I just read about this at the 2gnt.com site. Not exactly sure what it is or where to get it but it sounds like a great bang for the buck and they said it was easy to install. Where would you be able to get this and I have just a cold air intake for my car now, but the reviews I read for this where from people who had much more mods (but no forced induction).

So just wondering if anyone has this and can tell me where to get it or give any more info on it at all?

Also, would it be safe to get something like this off e-bay? Ever since I got my intake for such a great price I'm really hoping to use e-bay more for my mods.

Sorry, I just did a search. Thanx for the link and I'll search for the dyno sheets. I found a good post about it here through searches.

I have an afx ecu and I can vouch that it's a wonderful mod. First gear throws me back in the seat, second seems a little faster (I blame bad gearing), third pulls hard on highways.

Rev limiter is removed, I can rev to 7800. I usually don't but if you want to, i recommend PT cruiser style lifters and rockers.

You'll also be forced to fill up with 93+ octane all the time, which is kind of annoying when gas is so expensive.

 what does the afx ecu do exactly? is it a chip like the venom box or hyperchip?

Mostly just timing advance. There's some bonuses like hacked rev limit. Mine was one of the earlier ones and only goes up to 7800, but i think the newer ones actually don't have a rev limit at all.

If i remember correctly, the dyno graph was around 12-15 hp gain on the lowend, and after 4k it tapered off to a modest 6-7hp.

Thanks i'm very excited. I'm thinking of getting an exhuast from a gst, but I'd really rather not...BUT, if the chip will work better with it and give a bit more HP, maybe it's worth it.

Also, what are lifters and rockers? how much would they cost...and labor and all...I got a lot more to learn but I'm so excited, I'm hoping to get my car as fast as my bro's maxima, but I don't know if that can be done without a turbo or if it's worth all the money it could take.

Oh and...I just put this system in my car and man it's heavy as hell!!! But i got a great deal...but damn it's heavy, so thats kinda why I bought the chip, i don't like how the car is movin now and think it needs more torque for that extra weight.

Oh, and lastly, LOL, gettin it all out today...I am going to a dyno meet and they have a special for us, 150$ for 6 pulls and tuning, 50$ for no tuning. Will tuning it help or does it do all that on it's own and it's a waste of money?

EDIT: I just remembered I have an oil leak in my car, seems to be from the valve cover, it's been doing fine and my brother told me not to worry about it, but since I am getting this afx unit, should I get that fix or will it still not matter.

Lifters and rockers are the doohickies that are pushed by the cams to push the valves open and close. Yes, not a very technical description, but hey, it's late.

If you're valve cover is leaking, perfect timing, since you need to remove the valve cover to change out the lifters and rockers. You can get a new valve cover gasket while it's open.

Um, they are pretty easy to change out, i haven't actually done it, but on 2gnt.com if you search through the forums, there's a guide. You can literally pop in new lifters and rockers with two big screwdrivers.

You can order them from howellautomotive.com when you order the afx ecu.

You can't really tune the afx ecu, it's pretty much preset. But you can swap ecu's for us and get us a real life dyno of the difference between a stock ecu and the afx ecu. :thumb:

Beat a maxima? It would take some effort. Don't they run mid/low 15's?

As for the GST exhaust, you only need the axleback muffler section. The midsection piping is the same diameter, just has an extra resonator to quiet things down. You can pick one up cheap. i'm selling one for $35 (check 2gnt.com).

my bro has the 95 maxima with 190 hp and 205 torque.

Thanx a lot for all the info, I'm ganna research more into this tommorow, right now gotta work on shitloads of homework and be ready for this big exam tommorow. Would that axle back mufler section be easy to install...I'm thinkin of takin that off your hands, LOL...yeah I'll have to do some research, I may be able to find one around here but if not I'll see if yours is available...gotta get back to homework for now, thanx again for all the info :thumb:

Edit: Just went to howells website, heh, didn't give much info on what the lifters and rockers do really? I don't really plan to rev high cause I want to stay reliable, heh, but wha makes the pt cruiser lifter and rockers so special? Give any extra speed or power or jus stronger and better ones than stock?

Oh as for the dyno pulls, I will do 2 pulls with the new ecu (they are giving us a deal, 50 bucks for 2 pulls, but no tuning, 150 for 6 pulls and tuning). I want to do the 2 pulls with the new ecu so I can get an accurate reading and I'll be sure to let this board and 2gnt board know (I just hope I get the ecu before April 17th, I just ordered it today, and I'm not to sure how quick Howell is but I heard they take some time).

They're the guides that the camshafts push down in order to open and close the valves. They uh... lift and rock your valves? Sorry, i'm not really clear myself so I don't want to give you wrong information. Basically since the afx ecu raises the rev limit to 8000, your stock lifters and rockers can't handle it. In other words, things in your head will start breaking.

The pt cruiser style lifters make it so you can safely rev higher without fear of breaking anything. They also have upgraded oil routes so that everything stays lubricated properly.

Yea, howell takes some time. Especially with making an ecu, because I think they don't stock them, they only make them when ordered.

k, I guess I'll order those if they would let me rev high, that sounds awsome, heh. I can actually take it to redline without worry? Sounds too good to be true.

really? thats crazy.. but i have a question.. i was reading your list of mods.. when did you do your ECU mod? like in what sequence did the ECU upgrade fall in your list of mods? the reason i'm asking is b/c i am thinking about getting one.. and i have a full exhaust done.. and a ram intake.. and i was wondering how big of a gain did you feel? i know the website at howell says like 8-22hp or something like that.. but i was wondering if it was worth it for you

Question, does the ecu adapt to every mod u do, for example lets say u didnt have a intake manifold before the ecu, n u "reset" it by disconnecting the negative charge of the battery and connecting it again, will it automaticaly adjust itself to compensate for the new mod? Thanks

BTW i heard that its good to "reset" the ecu after every mod, is this true?
