I need someone with a definative knowledge of a 420a.

I have a pretty heavily modified 97 eclipse n/t with a star stage 2 kit. I am having a problem in 1st and 2nd gear with the car shutting off in the neighborhood of 4000 and up rpms. The shut off is very abrupt and quick. However the car pulls hard as crap in 3rd-5th gear. I have a wideband and a obd2 scanner. There are no codes and AFR before shut off is around 11.5. The engine does start back up sometimes there is a window of 2 minutes before it will fire back up.

Please if there is someone that has knowledge on this engine, please I have exhausted all my knowledge and the knowledge of people I know. Anything would help.

have missing link. i have done everything the right way, with the exception of not buying a gst or gsx. the fuel system is completely upgraded (pump, injectors, regulator, rail, afc, wideband to monitor the true AFR).

replace your ECU and see if that helps.

I say it must be ECU related, sounds like its seeing something it doesn't like and cutting it.

yeah i would say an AFX ecu since youre 97' but maye thats not good cause it'll advance timing, but perhaps a e-manage then, they work wonders on na's.
