is there a way to tell if a eclipse is a 1.8 or 2.0 other then look at the engine b/c this old guy is selling his 91 but he forgot what engine is in there and the hood is stuck andi dont want to take the time to pop the hood if it a 1.8 anyhelp will do thanks

hmmmm....first of all....i don't think you should buy any car without popping the hood. Unless he's selling it for like 40 bucks or something and you just want the interior parts or something.

ok...the instant way to tell on the 91 Eclispe you are lookin at is: THE HUMP. 1.8 from late 89-91 don't have the bulge on the hood. You can also look at the exhaust pipe- if it is stock, it'll be a single tip. Any 2.0 DOHC and up will have a bulge on the hood and dual exhaust tips. Also, a stock 1.8 will be riding on 14 inch donuts.

thanks yes im buying the car for parts for a $100 and some yard work and the interior is perfect the car is almost perfect it just wont start and the hood latch is broke thanks again
