I was wondering why my cruise control does not work anymore. I did the turbo manual swap with everything I needed and all is good exept the cruise. I do not have my clutch safety switch hooked up on the bottom or top of the clutch pedal. I am not sure how to wire it in though.

that is most likely why, i know on my car, if the clutch is in, the cruise goes off... so maybe by not having it hoooked up, it tells your car that your clutch is pushed in...

I'm just letting you know I have done the swap to 5-speed and you are not alone. I am working on it, and I will let you know if i figure it out.

could any of you 5-speed with cruise guys tell me what color the wires coming from the clutch switch are, from the plug to the switch was blue and black i think, but if someone could look at their harness side for me.

It's not the ECU wiring that is a problem.
The CSS is part of the starting circuit. You would have done this during the trans swap or bypassed it by connecting the inhibitor switch leads.
The other clutch switch is for the cruise control and is in the cruise control computer circuits.

You can check if that's what the CCC has heartburn about.

So how do we wire in the clutch switch? That wiring diagram is for a 2g. So your saying that inhibitor switch thing that we grounded in the engine compartment needs to be ran to the depressed clutch switch to make the cruise work? If so then if one wanted, basicaly you could run a toggle switch to it and just turn the switch when using cruise right because you need those to wires disconected to make the cruise work yet you need them contacting to start the car. Corect me if I am wrong. Do you have to conect the bottom switch for it to work also cause I hate pushing the clutch to start it.

well, steve I did do that cruise control diagnosis check. and all I could get out of it were the quick flashes of 1 like the ecu reads when everything is normal. The info you gave had no "normal" code listed. was i doing something wrong? I definatly had the right pins.

I hadnt tried what tsi had just suggested with a switch on those wires.

tsi did you get around to trying that?

Ya, it worked. Just run a switch to the inhibitor switch wires or run them to the switch on the top of the pedle the (depress switch) if you prefer. Just note if you do the flip switch thing you have to have it on to start the car and turn it off for the cruise to work.
