New with 93 talon nt need ideas on cheap hp mods?

I'm new to MDS and need a few pointers to get me started. I am making a Race car (93 EAGLE TALON NON TURBO)for dirt trak. It's a clay high banked 3/8 mile track we run 25 car field. There are all types and makes of 4 clynder cars.They are to be completly stock with roll cage and racing seat. No turbos. There are a couple of DSM out there already Eclipes's and they stump butt. I raced 93 Ford Escort GT last year my first year. I got rookie of the year out of all the class of the track and this year hoping this DMS will take me to at least top three if not 1ST. Last years champ won with eclipse. Hard to run against with a Ford.

Any extra help on mods would help NEW guy in town. /

First of all it is a DSM and why are you wanting to know how to mod it if it has to be stock?

Here are a few ideas to use as "cheats". Use a k&n filter, cut open the air box, port the intake and exhaust if you can't use a header, put in a short shifter, and get the lightest rims possible to race on. Also give a full tune up using larger wires, iridium plugs, high flow fuel filter, and make sure to use the larger wire when relocating and rewiring the pump and fuel cell. You can try to sneak by with some underdrive pulley's, remove the balance shafts and a/c, and work on the suspension to ensure the best grip and balance through the corners. And if you have the time and money, you could always upgrade your internals and bump up the compression to 10:1 and then get some oversized valves.
