$500 mod

i have a 92 eclipse n/t with the 2.0 4g63 motor in it. in your opinion, if you had $500 what would you do with it. thanks in advance.

Not a N/T expert but I would think an intake system and a catback exhaust...In most cases a good catback will cost close to $500 anyway so correct me if I am wrong

I agree, intake, catback, maybe new plugs and plug wires after that.

Um, well an intake will cost you maybe $75 bucks, if you don't go with the injen, and just make your own(this does include a K&N). A catback will cost you about 200 bucks from a muffler shop, more if you get a madrel bend. Plugs/wires will cost you 60 bucks. So you still have 165 bucks left, so then spend that money on getting everything else up to top-notch shape, because i know your '92 has some minor problems, everybody does(including me).

yeah, there's some problems with it, the brake pedal pulses so horribly so i'm doing cross drilled front rotors with ebc green stuff pads all around. the header has 3 cracks that have been welded up, kind of shady looking, so i'll be buying most likely a stock one and porting it out, or buy aftermarket. the front bumper also needs to be repainted, not a big deal though. the valve cover gasket was overtightened (supposedly) on one corner and it leaks a little oil. there is also a lifter loose, sound goes away after it gets warmed up. is it easy to tighten that back up?? anyone that can help me that would be great. the idle control motor is sh*t since it jumps from 1 to 2 grand. oh yeah it also needs a front end alignment, steering wheel shakes and steers to the right a little. but hey it was $1000 so i'm not going to complain and other than that the car is mint. so i figure that less than $500 and i can get all that fixed, i have auto technology in school so i'll be doing most of the work there, if not, then at my house. and i worked in a body shop for 2 years, so my old boss will paint the bumper for a huge discount. hmmm, i guess it's good to know people in the auto industry, . thanks

i'm buying the intake off of eBay, nice looking $40 shipped, the exhaust will be done down at Lou's custom exhaust shop in mass (they have like 7 locations) it is MANDREL BENT!!! and it will be less than $150 if i get my own muffler which i will. ther web site is www.louscustomexhaust.com it's hot you should check it out. so going with those prices for those 2 pieces, now tell me what you would do.

I put an OBX Racing header, $157 on E-Bay, crush-bent 2.5" exhaust $175 from Meineke, 2.5" test pipe $42 on E-Bay, polished intake $30 on E-Bay, K&N air filter $45 Strauss, cut the stock aircan off $free, opened up the MAF (removed honeybomcs/air silecner) $free, it had 8mm Accell wires, put in some new plugs. Gives it a good ammount of pull on the butt dyno compared to stock. Check out my gallery for pics. Goo dluck with it.

pacesetter header off ebay, port out runners at flange to clean up, get pacesetter exhaust off ebay, hack off ### muffler weld on n1 lookalike,test pipe,8mm wires,$ 40 ebay intake, and see hwo much is left. then go from there
