Hi my names Frank for those who don't know. I'm actually starting this journal a bit late seeing that me and my father have had this project going since last September. First off the car is a white 1gb auto awd panda. We got the car for $600 running with minor transmission issues but completely virgin.

Since we got the car we have put it on a serious diet, taking out all but the absolute necessary. All sound damping material has been removed doors gutted out and window motors removed. Fuel tank, spare, all interior plastics, all power seat belt equipment, anything that could go is basically gone.

We also pulled down the rear subframe and rear did all bushings and installed four adjustable control arms. Removed minor surface rust and repainted the entire underbody. The engine bay was completely gutted, cleaned and repainted as well as the interior.

The motor we decided to go with a 6 bolt 2.3 Wiseco HD, R&R aluminum rod and Eagle 100mm crank combo. Everything fully balanced and blue printed. The head is fully worked with Supertech valves, Kiggly springs, GSC S3 cams and a full port and polish.

For a turbo we went with a Boug Warner 67mm. For turbo manifold we have the JMF t4 divided top mount. We are going to be running e85 and nitrous.

Transmission is in the process of being sent out to the guys at Metro Transmission to work there magic. For a torque converter we went with a Sinister unit as I have had much success with his converters on another car.

All the wrench time is being put in by me and my father. With our goals being to get deep into the 8s. We have got some minor things done and we know the road is going to be a hard one but we'll keep chizzling away until we get there.

I will update as I have more things finished and ad more pictures as I take them.

look like a fun build! How are you planning to mount your rear sway bar with the adjustable control arms?
 
Always loved the white 1gb talons. Is that a completely filled block?
 
The block is 3/4 filled. I just took some pictures of the turbo I'll post up when I get home.:thumb::sneaky::hellyeah::rocks:

The block is 3/4 filled with cement. You fill the coolant paths with cement to make the block stronger. I only filled it 3/4 to allow cooling where combustion will be taking place.
 
Looks good so far! Look forward to see the finished results! You will absolutely LOVE Metro's auto trans. Mark is a super cool guy and has some seriously cool stuff that he can do with our auto trannies. I love mine to death.
 
Where in some ways the 2.3 may be a blessing in others it may be a hindrance. It will be great to spool up and get on boost quickly, but it will not be able to rev as high as a 2.0. I hope we may have overcome this issue running the aluminum rods for the reduced weight of the rod itself should take away from the added stress on the bearings. Hopefully the 28" slicks will eliminate the need to rev 3rd out to above 9k.
As for the bottle we know its going to still be needed for the stall. As for running it the full pass that is yet to be determined as we are going to have to see how everything plays out. One thing is for sure I'm not afraid to put a pacifier in the baby's mouth if it acts up;)
 
For your viewing pleasure I figured I'd give some more incite to where I've been with these cars.
Here's some pictures of my setup back in 03'. Strictly alcohol car with a innovative t76 @ 45psi an a 250 shot.. I still wounder why I couldn't get that car to drive with out breaking parts...:aha::rolleyes:

Yes the manifold was equal length.
I have some more updates finally got the radiator support welded up and intercooler mounted. Also installed the Megan coilovers and mounted one of the slicks to check fitment. :thumb:

Never got to make a real run on the track. This was back when you had to get on a waiting list for drivetrain parts. I was waiting for my Front and rear axles and driveshaft from DSS. All of my other achievements are null and void because anything off the track doesn't really mean much. Pm me if you want a better understanding
 
Nice build, what Ignition Setup is that? Never seen 4 individual MSD coils setup like that for a DSM, I can see how you light off 45psi. :hellyeah:

You're going to want to think about weight when running with the auto and high revs. I wouldn't have gone with an aluminum rod. Have you considered adding counterweights to the crank?
 
Have to make mine road safe. Tons of Surface rust under the rear end. Starting the same process soon.

Awesome pictures on your process. In a year or so from now I will be able to strut my stuff as well.
