Okay I own a 98 GSX 100,000 miles. DNP headers, Injenintake, Greddy type RS bov, redone head by slowboys racing, full Magna flow exhaust, DNP manifold. I run 93 Octane at all time on my car. I was looking at DSM graveyard for a turbocharger. I drive my car about three to four times a week and dont really go to the tracks. In april im going to buy injectors, pump, and turbo charger. I dont want some laggy turbo with massive PSI. I want a good reliable turbo thats quick and has good top speed, but yet something I can drive a lot with. Is the Evo 16G or the GT35R the king of the streets haha? Or any other suggestions for a turbo under about 700$?:thumb:

dnp makes a tubular turbo manifold its not called a header or headers which is plural there is only one on our cars.

As for turbo go with a 16g you dont sound like you have alot of expierence and it should be fine once you max it out then you can go biggger.

I'm in the market for a new truck.....here are my two choices

Any insight?

ROFL In all seriousness, jusmx141's metaphor works perfectly. Those two turbos are not in the same class at all and shouldn't be in the same discussion.

Then you're looking for a turbo with a DSM bolt-on turbine housing....a true Garrett GT35R does not fit into this category.
I run 93 Octane at all time on my car.
Then you'll never be able to run enough boost to make a 35R worth having on the street.

Why? There are a million other vendors who would be my first choice for a turbocharger over DSM Graveyard.
I drive my car about three to four times a week and dont really go to the tracks, just a street racer.
Never say those last two words on this site.

Then you want an Evo III 16G.

I would say to go with the e16g. I have had several turbos and honestly for daily use the evoIII is hands down your way to go. Also search the forum a little bit better and do your own research man. You are comparing apples and oranges.

What the hells better the evo or garret? Haha everone saying stupid stuff and never answered.
Are you shitting me.

:ohdamn: sounds like you have alot of homework to do...... ill try to put it in lamens terms for you...

the 16g is a ausome street turbo , the Garett is a Race turbo and is a "bigger" turbo.....

I use the evo3-16g because my car is a daily driver.... and is still capable of pushing 400HP

You have gotten a million answers, but in case you missed them.... The 16g will be better for you. It is the better turbo for what you want to do.

haha
Well again.. you can't really compare them, SOOO you can't really say ones better than the other! They are in different classes, Ones HUGE compared to the other..
the 16g will spool faster but the gt35 will push a shit more air!
From the looks of it, you have little knowledge in this area and should KEEP the stock turbo on the car before the motor is blown!! IMO

@ 100,000 miles I would make sure all maintanence is done first, check timing belt, water pump, wires, plugs, all that jazz, timing belt should have been done @ the 60-70k mark anyways... then make sure you pickup supporting mods like you stated, injectors, fuel pump, as you said you were going to in April, also in your list you should have something to tune with such as ecmlink or else your car will run like ass without being able to tune bigger injectors, from there if you only plan on a daily driver the turbo that would best suit you for the street is def the 16G, but if you want a little more go with a 20G or for a little bit more $$ you could go with a FP 68HTA, the 35R will be nothing but lag for you for street use, you should also look into a new intercooler as you most likely will heat soak your stocker...and for the record everybody that has replied has more or less already given you the same response...

For your setup stick with a 16G, it will carry you easily to 400HP once you get more supporting mods. Unless you have very big plans for your car don't even bother with the GT35R.

The GT35R isn't that bad of a Lag Monster due to the fact of it being a Ball Bearing Turbo, but yes its slow compared to the 16g and its WAY too much air for the o.p. to handle given his goals!

With a 35r you will have a lot of turbo lag but ultimately have more efficiency to make more power, build your motor/valvetrain to rev high and use all of that boost. lots of fun on the drag strip/highway

16g you'll have fast spooling more torque and more fun on the highway/streets/drag strip

A good midway point would be 50-trim, gt30r sized turbos.
