To me, my car looks beautiful. To my girlfriend, it looks like shit haha. Thought id please her with at least ONE thing in the car so she doesnt hate me as much for buying it sooooo I'm thinkin about leather seats. She loves those and is begging me to get some so she's comfotable in the car. -___________- whatever. The question is, if i happen to find some for my 1g, would 2g seats fit right in? sounds stupid and i know most likely the answer is no but ill ask anyways. and if not, how much fabbin to i have to do to get them to fit.

while im on the subject, does anyone have leather seats they wanna sell me? haha

Why not go with EVO 8 SSL seats? I like those a lot more and they hug you right in. Obviously you would have to do some adjusting but I think they would be better than 2G, but that is just my opinion.

well yes i definately agree with you, but whats the price difference? hahah im trying to do a VERY CHEAP trade to make girlfriend happy. but like, i need a 16g and thats gonna run me in the 600s i dont wanna spend extra money on just seats haha

2g seats will not fit. And if she doesn't like your car, oh well. LOL Leather is going to burn her little legs, Or big, dunno what your into :) Any seats that aren't 1g are going to have to be custom mounted. Find someone that wants to trade their GST/GSX/TSI Leathers for your cloth seats. I did that. Traded my Leathers for some Red Cloth, now my talon feels like a whole new car and much more comfortable without the leathers.

I have some Custom Leather/Cloth Recaro looking 1g Seats. Insides are like a navy blue color and in cloth, and the outsides are black leather. But florida is a long shipping distance.

yea thats like an extra hundred:( and hahahahaha definately small man. I dont dig that whole "more cushion for the pushin" shit....no offence to anyone out there hahaha.

Didn't know your price range, so yeah I guess the EVO 8 seats are out of your price range as far as cheap :).

and yeaa my bad i didnt specify that.

ANYONE HAVE LEATHER SEATS THEY WANNA TRADE?

have your seats recovered? that's what i'm gonna do to the hubby's seats. we've got 2 auto upholstery shops around here.. don't know about your area, but see if that's available?

It might be cheaper to get them upholstered than to buy seats that will not fit. You will then have to get custom/universal brackets, drill/weld them in and everything else that comes with it. Too much work IMO

that's what i'm screamin. why go to all the trouble of finding different seats? just hand em off to someone else to play with :) i know the shops around here can get them back to you in a day -nods-

i was quoted $750 for the front 2 and back bench on a 2g wrapped in black pleated vinyl with red trim. gonna be awesome.

I use to do auto upholstery its really not that hard.the trick is to mark every part then use a razor blade and cut apart at the seams then lay the patterns on top of the new fabric and trace outline.add a little for sewing then sew the patterns back together.just need to find a sewing machine :)

well i could have them upholstered but i feel like for that 800bucks, again, i could buy racing seats haha. im thinking about seat covers. they have them on ebay but idk i fell like theyd be mad cheap lookin. Anyone have them? they have a snug fit right over ## seats, but i havent even seen them on a car. or how they feel

Wow, those are cheap as hell. Any idea how easy they bolt into the 1G or 2Gs?

The seats have a nice flat bottom. It doesn't look like it would be hard to fab something up to make them fit. At most, a little flat stock and a drill / bolts and you are good to go. Just make sure it's secure, as a seat is a serious safety item!

FYI: The seats listed in post# 19 are OK at best. I ran this seat for a couple years and eventually wised up and replaced them. My main gripe with them is the strength of the reclining hinge area. It's got alot of "play" and I would personally never trust this seat in the event of an accident. It will probably fail and allow the seat to fold forward or backward. In a nutshell, they were made to be attractively priced. They look decent, but if you could compare this seat side-by-side with a quality seat (Cobra, Sparco, Corbeau, etc...), you'd quickly notice a dozen little things that you didn't like about the no-name seat. It's a decent looking seat that is priced to hide it's quality. It's also a bit on the big side for our interiors. It will make contact with the headliner when in certain positions, and it will also contact with the B-pillar plastic if you have longer legs and have the seat sit farther back. The slow-moving dial recliner is also a PITA - It's just a slow and tedious process to make large adjustments.

Seats are like many other automotive parts in a sense that you get what you pay for.

On a positive note; they material and stitching that they used seemed to be pretty durable. They were decently comfortable as well.

For installation, I used a pair of Tenzo R seat brackets. We welded a couple pieces of flat stock across the Tenzo brackets and drilled holes in the flat stock to match up to the holes in the sliders of the seat. It was a pretty simple process.

I like the high dollar seats but the 4g eclipse has some nice ones and the last celica body style they had had some really nice seats for stock. You could get those for the same price as the eBay ones and have a lot better quality seat.

The EVO8 SSL seats are a great option for us. But they're a far cry from affordable for many of us.

Another great option are the seats found in the 7G Toyota Celicas ('99-'06). They're available in black and gray leather, they're quality because they're OEM, and they look and fit great in our interiors. Here's a shot of a set of them in my 2G:

^damn. really? thats a celica seat? i like those alot. do you happen to remember how much they were/are?

I got mine off of eBay from a scrap yard that was parting out an '05 Celica. I won the auction at $150 and spent another $120 for freight. I already had brackets and harnesses laying around, so I didn't need to spend any other money to fit them in the car. Overall, I'm very happy with the seats and the amount of money spent on them. :)
