Nice runs! How do you like the slicks? I just ordered some. Can you tell me how it was going from street tire to slicks?

From street tires to slicks is like night and day!!! Just be sure to turn you launch rev limit up, I had to turn it up to 6500 with some anti lag to get the 1.5 60ft!

Dave was running a fine line with the street tires. We had the pressure down to around 20psi on all four, and the car would either spin like crazy coming out of the hole or bog just under the torque curve in first gear if he tried to keep the car from spinning.

If you watch his 10.91 pass video you'll see the difference in the way the car launched between the two passes....the pass where he went 10.91 was nearly a 2.0 60ft, the second was equally as shitty being that he spun and bounced off the rev limiter through first gear:

I am having the same problem. Either spin bad or bog at the shootout. I end up burning out the 2900 at the shootout so I got the QM. Still with the same problem that why I wanted the slicks. MY 7.3 in the 1/8th was with a 1.89 60.

Yeah i read your profile right after i posted that, i was hoping you were mostly stock for my sake but awesome times nonetheless, makes using a holset seem like that much better of a choice when i watch vids like that.

The Holset turbo's are not the best turbo in the world, but it is for the price and how durable they are! I promise this guys, I will get this turbo into the low 10s, or even into the 9s before the end of this year!!! Don't believe me, just stay tuned with my updates!!! I'm on the path of representing the holset Hx40.

The stock engine was last year with the HX35; 11.60 @ 121.52 on a whooped-on stock 6-bolt with around 139k on it. The only mods to the engine at the time was balance shaft elimination, Comp 101200 cams, and ARP head studs.

The old engine had so much blowby that at idle if you loosened the oil cap it would "float" upward and into your hand...and this is the engine that won B1 at the 2009 Shootout. LOL

Thats good to hear since my motor is stock with arps/cometic and still has balance shafts, i will be running the hx35 in bep 55/ar with a 2g manifold and stock cams. Should be a nice street setup good bang for the buck, and this kind of thread inspires me even more :) LOL

Are you going to the shootout this year? If so I would like to meet you and see your car!

Yes sir, I go every year.. I will most likely be staying at the best western in Norwalk, and at the shootout just look for me in the staging lanes, just come up and talk man... I will also have the car at Buschur shop!

Congrats on your 10s pass.

I recently swapped out my street tires for some M&H DOT and it was fun launching it. I slipped it out of the hole and only managed best of 1.70 sixty :coy: My first time out since last racing season with the new tires and clutch was slipping. My tune was not so great and so was the 100* heat.

This was on HTA3582, E85 and 25psi, A/F 10.7, full leather interior.

I know I like to mess with ya!!! Do what you gotta do! I'm not near maxing out this Hx40 like you did.

Lol I KEEP contemplating lightening the thing up ---my car is a mess..i dont know how it runs so good :-|

That car sounds like it has a much higher compression ratio than Dave's, which would explain equal pass speed at lower boost levels. Any idea what the compression ratio is or what peak timing was during that pass?

so it turns out this car is on a basic 8:5.1 comp build....not sure of the timing but there is the results u were asking for from a pte turbo:hmm:

That's a fully gutted race car which makes it an apples to oranges comparison. If you want to let the world know about his build, start a thread. If you want to promote a specific turbo that you don't even run, make a thread. Jeez.

Great job, Dave! :rocks:
