There are only two major issues with the vert. 1, drag. The car has a higher drag than a hard top. From .28 to .32. .32 is actually still pretty decent. Similar to my supra hard top. #2, it does spoil the airflow to the rear wing a bit. I'll worry about that when I actually progress to the point I need more rear downforce.. for now I have more rear DF than a lot of the RWD cars in the field

Any thoughts on making a fiberglass hardtop for it or something? I would think that it would if nothing else yeild less turbulence from the surface being smoother, giving cleaner air to the rear spoiler. I ASSUME thats the big difference but then I am no fluid dynamic's whiz.

Isn't that what I just explained?

No, you didnt answer correctly, you have to say it in the exact words he wants. Try again and come back later :p.

Anyways, you guys made a lot of progress, and im shocked that you wouldnt be running timing covers, but we all learn things from our blown motors (or so we hope).

Im out for now in the DSM world, but I wish you the best of luck, unfortunately I dont have a 2.4 6-bolt block for you, but ill keep my eye out as I will be in the junkyard probably saturday, any particular year/car your looking for? Love to help anyway I can.

the Eclipse is BACK!! it'll be ready to kick some ass in a race track near you! LOLz! :hellyeah: :hellyeah: :hellyeah: :D

Awesome Vid Andrew!

Thanks for posting it up, and good luck with the 2010 season! We are looking forward to seeing how the Eclipse really does with a full season under its belt, and all sorted out! You definitely have one solid start to work with!

BTW, how is the repaired engine doing? I am assuming you don't need the 4G64 block... :)

Congratulations to both you and the team, just for making it through what was obviously such a bizarre year, let alone doing so damn well all the way along. It has to feel good, sitting back at the end of the season and seeing how everything came together. :thumb:

Cool video Drew. Everything looks great.

Thanks so much guys, it means a lot to us!

So far I have lined up a good amount of work for this next season in JP and US but we're trying to put together a partial season for the eclipse and your support will mean a lot to us moving forward as well. Thank you to all the people who believed in this build. I think we're really changing people's thinking. One thing is the way technology progresses todays 'wow' is tomorrows every day stuff. So while my build might be seen as "wild" today, when all these parts are shelved it will probably become a standard road course DSM build. I'd like to see a build like this on an AWD car!

Thanks for the help with the block but we wound up able to salvage this build with a big big overbore (scary)!

I think we have worked out what the reliability issues are for the most part. My goal is to have the car capable to run 4+ hour races in every way except that we use tires meant for time attack. We'll be working close with with shepherd transmissions to improve gearbox reliability and that should really help get us there. Our engine is very reliable other than the hard lesson we learned about the timing cover it was flawless all year.

I doubt we will run a full full season in 2010, I have quite a bit of japan work already lined up for next year and I'm courting 3 teams in SuperGT and Super Taikyu now but nobody has budgets lined up yet because the year just ended. I also have some pretty big stateside work to do with US teams. Everyone's budgets are up in the air so i cant announce anything officially but its American Le Mans or Grand AM and Unlimited class in Redline Time Attack.

I'm trying really hard to put together a semi amateur team for endurance race at Fuji or Suzuka. I want to fly Matt out here to drive for that would be a great time. Its nice to be back in Japan. I missed the food!

I am only on page 4 and this is an amazing thread!

Love the detail, can't wait to see the progression to 2010.

just wondering, will you be attending the redline time attack at sebring raceway in florida next month???:D
