Hey guys couple days ago I finally got my oil line in the mail (broke the last one). Anyways I took the car out for a drive and it wouldnt build boost and i could hear a whining sound like the compressor wheel was spinning against the housing. So I limped it home and started taking the car apart yesterday and found this

So I needed a turbo fast so I got my friends 20g and his hks knockoff wastegate. Now my question is, how would I go about mounting the wastegate? I dont have a manifold with a flange for it, so I was gonna have a friend of mine weld me one onto my mani. Also have any of you mounted the stock fan in front of the radiator? Also the turbo is hitting against the metal coolant hose on the block, I was thinking about tapping a little dent in it to make clearance for the turbo but dont want to disrupt the flow of coolant. What you guys suggest?

dent the water pipe. is that the 20g in the pictures. thats wrong with the compressor wheel? it looks like youll need to get an external 02 dump housing

The picture with the messed up compressor wheel is his OLD turbo, which looks to be a knock off anyway.

A 20g is going to rock your world. Hopefully you have the correct supporting mods and looking at your profile... you do not. So try not to blow your motor. SEARCH if you want to find the correct supporting mods for this setup otherwise your taking a leap of faith. I thought that the 20g's were direct bolt on's? Do you have a 6-bolt or 7-bolt motor? There might be an adapter available, I see you have a different manifold. Do a quick search to see if you need an adapter plate.

Also, I would NOT dent the water pipe a 1/4 of an inch. Just do it right. Bolting that thing up in a hurry means your doing it ALL WRONG.

Yea the first pic is the 16g that got messed up somehow.. Somehow the nut that holds the wheel on fell off.

I know I dont have all the supporting mods, My origianal plan wasnt to put the 20g on the spyder, It was goin on my gsx when I finish building the motor. But I needed a turbo to get me around and thats the only one Ive got and I dont have the funds to buy a new one just yet. Ill be getting a true big 16g when I can. If you know anyone with one for sale with no shaft play let me know.

the motor is a 7bolt, Ill check an adaptor... thanks

Hey guys, wanted to kinda give an update.. Ive decided to just wait on the 20g for my gsx when I get that built. I got a stock turbo on the car for now until I get another 16g, but I took the blown 16g apart today and its worse then I thought it was. It had a pretty good amount of side to side and in and out shaft play. What you guys think would be more worth it? Buyin an ebay 16g, waiting to find one in the classifieds or one on craigslist or buying a rebuild kit and new compressor wheel and rebuilding this one?

I would scrap that one, and buy a used 16g. They are good turbos and can even make 400hp with a beast tune. 20g will get you there a lot easier and you just need an adapter or spacer.
