boost leak test

i did a boost leak test and i heard air coming oput of BOV gasket. its a brand new kit from punishment-racing, just got it 2 weeks ago. car under full throttle will run fine, but just driving it will boost but have no power like something is holding it back. any ideas?? thanks, Dylan

well you got a few things here it could be , you could have a boost leak somewhere else aside of the BOV ... however are you venting to the atmos? or do you recirculate. if you vent try recircing and see if that fixs it if not i'd look into the bov to see if the gasket is leaking or something of that nature .chekc you IC piping too make sure you dont have coupler ripped or anything my buddy blew hsi reducer and had boost but it didnt pull likei t boosted even though the gauge said he was pushin 16 psi. so just make sure to check all lines for boost leaks check your ic piping and couplers and make sure your bov isnt leaking

I recirculate. and i checked all the lines and all the couplers and i cant find anything.

Only difference that I know of is that you can get the hi-temp stuff.

Use grey gasket maker from permatex. I use this on everything. I actually took this idea from my buddies who rebuild VW's all day long, and one of them is pushing 638 on a R32. All they have ever used on everything is grey gasket maker.

yeah well if no couplers and what not are blown then its the bov ... is it leaking right at the gasket on the ic piping ? if so thats your problem my friend.

its leaking ontop of the flange where the gasket goes, then the BOV

yeah you need to seel that up cause that is just like having a ripped coupler on your ic piping .. my bov leaks alittle but out of the mouth of it ( greddy type s ) very little so it doesnt rob me of horse power but the bolts were loose one day after i took it off and cleaned it out and i had hardly any boost power so i checked again and it was leaking from the gasket got a new one and bolted tight and ran fine

Get a bottle of soapy water and start spraying everything down, make sure it's really soapy, then do a BLT and look for bubbles.
